Wildcats, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series Season 4’s teaser trailer comes with good and bittersweet news. All eight episodes of the highly-anticipated season will drop at once on Wednesday, August 9, on Disney+. However, according to The Hollywood Reporter‘s exclusive report, Season 4 will be the final season of HSMTMTS.
“This series was always about found family, and about making something you love with people you love. In other words, it was a tribute to theater kids,” showrunner Tim Federle said in a statement, per THR. “I can’t wait for our dedicated fan base to watch this world-class cast take a final bow,” Federle added.
In a post shared to HSMTMTS‘s socials, Federle wrote, “And after four years at East High, it’s time to graduate. This will be our final, endgame season. This show brought the most extraordinary cast — and crew, and collaborators — to my life. To the fans, who embraced our super-meta series: we ‘don’t not love you.’ We can’t wait to share this epic fourth act with you all.”

HSMTMTS‘s teaser trailer builds on what can be seen in the first photos from Season 4 — music, romance, and a whole lot of nostalgia.
The new footage shows Bart Johnson, who played Coach Jack Bolton in the original High School Musical trilogy, returning to East High to announce the production of High School Musical 4: The Reunion. As previously announced, returning HSM stars include Corbin Bleu (who appeared in Season 3, Monique Coleman, Lucas Grabeel (who appeared in Season 1), Alyson Reed, and Kaycee Stroh (who appeared in Season 1).
Meanwhile, the HSMTMTS Wildcats return to Salt Lake City and East High from Season 3’s Camp Shallow Lake to put on a stage production of High School Musical 3: Senior Year.

The one-minute trailer, set to a new rendition of HSM 3‘s “High School Musical” that will surely make any HSM fan tear up, teases everything a musical number by the original cast members to Kourtney and Carlos going full “I Want It All.” It also gives fans a glimpse of Ricky’s optimism for his Senior year, which includes his relationship with Gina. The duo are all smiles as they enter their “Now or Never” era.
As for the production of High School Musical 4: The Reunion, it seems like Caitlin Reilly‘s Quinn will take the HSM reins from Kenny Ortega and direct the feature. In which, HSMTMTS newcomers Kylie Cantrall‘s Dani and Matthew Sato‘s Mack will have featured roles. The East Wildcats (or Leapards, let’s not forget!) will take the meta to the next level as they play extras in the reunion special and the HSM characters in their own show.
Ultimately, this trailer is an emotional rollercoaster (HSM fans will get the reference!) that sets up HSMTMTS‘s final bow. As EJ so perfectly says, “There’s nothing in this world like high school, and I promise you, you will never find another family like the Wildcats.” So, Wildcats, let’s do this one last time because “We’re All in This Together.”
