Smallville might not be getting a reboot, but the series’ main cast is giving fans like me the next best thing. If you didn’t know, Michael Rosenbaum(Lex) and Tom Welling(Clark) have a podcast ‘Talk Ville’ where they review episodes and give their honest thoughts and juicy stories from their time filming it.
So what makes this rewatch podcast better than the rest? Apart from the stars’ reviews, they roast the show like die-hard fans do. We’ll get into all that in this article.
What Is It All About?

The Smallville series follows a young Clark Kent as he navigates his early years and learns more about himself and his Kryptonian heritage. It was so successful that it had 10 seasons back when the show had 22 episodes. So when I found out Welling and Rosenbaum had started doing reviews on their rewatch episode, I knew the universe was working overtime for us Superman fans.
Firstly what I love about the podcast is Welling & Rosenbaum’s friendship which is on full display as they review the episodes. The duo occasionally rips into each other as they make fun of their acting and some scenes that don’t make sense from the 2000s hit show. For an hour, the actors dive into how they pulled off the stunts, special effects, all the naughty stuff, and adventures they were up to behind the scenes. And getting to know what Lex was thinking while Clark kept his secret so well is everything!

We can’t forget to mention the several talented cast and crew who appear in episodes from time to time. Aside from Michael’s in-studio co-host, stars like Kristen Kreuk (Lana Lang), Eric Johnson (Whitney Ford), Annette O’Toole (Martha Kent), John Glover (Lionel Luthor), John Schneider (Johnathan Kent), Anson Mount (Paul Hayden) just to name a few have come on the podcast.
One of A Kind Content From The Smallville Cast & Crew
Kristen Kreuk’s appearance on the podcast’s most recent episode, where they review the season 2×23: EXODUS finale, was a great way to end the season’s reviews. Another reason you should listen to the podcast and watch their youtube videos is you get to hear several hilarious behind-the-scenes stories from the cast. Like how they pulled off CGI scenes that are so good than the mess we have now (yes, I’m talking about the CGI from Ezra Miller’s The Flash that’s got everyone talking).

They also get into every villain’s powers from the early seasons when every bad guy had powers from the green kryptonite that landed in Smallville alongside Clark’s ship. And reveal behind-the-scenes stories with co-stars, like how much fun and complaining there was on set.
During Talk Ville season 2×17:ROSETTA review when Welling revealed the late Christopher Reeves had told him he should be the next Superman. I hope James Gunn heard that part of the podcast and is planning a DCU film where all the Superman actors appear. Tom, Man of Steel’s Henry Cavill and Superman and Lois’ Tyler Hoechlin appearing in the same film would break the internet.
But that’s not all because Rosenbaum and Welling love Smallville fans so much they have a question segment where they indulge fans’ curiosity about what was going down on set. There’s nothing better than watching your favorite series with the leads. If you’re a diehard fan, this is your chance to pick their brains about what they really thought about their character’s actions. Even the steamy ones! They also touch on the intense love triangle between Lex, Clark, Lana, and Chloe; it’s not what you expect.
As of the writing of this article, the Talk Ville podcast just wrapped, reviewing the Smallville season 2 finale. So it’s still early enough for you to catch up before Welling and Rosenbaum begin reviewing season 3. I can’t get enough of the duo’s roasts and commentary about their characters, and if you’re a big fan, you should listen to or watch them on youtube because I’m enjoying every minute of it!
Remember, folks, always hold on to Smallville!
