Netflix’s highly anticipated live-action series Avatar: The Last Airbender dropped its first official teaser, and we’re already hoping that it sticks the landing. At 1 minute and 53 seconds, you wouldn’t think that we would have 25 moments that gave us chills, but here we are.
This Geeked Week trailer nailed beloved characters like Aang, Katara, Sokka, Suki, Zuko, Uncle Iroh, and Azula. It brought to life places we’ve known for years like Ba Sing Se. And even gave us a little sage wisdom in the form of Uncle Iroh’s words in the trailer that are eerily similar to Iroh’s words to Zuko in the animated show, “You know, Prince Zuko, destiny is a funny thing. You never know how things are going to work out. But if you keep an open mind and an open heart, I promise you will find your own destiny someday.”
As someone who has loved Avatar: The Last Airbender for such a long time, I’m going to take that OG quote and hold it close when I think of the live-action adaptation. I don’t know how this show is going to work out and if it’ll fix the mistakes of the past. (We do not speak about that movie.) But I’m going to keep an open mind and heart and see where it takes me.
