The thing about casting Kaitlyn Dever as Abby in The Last of Us Season 2 is that, if you know anything about The Last of Us 2, you know Dever’s Abby is set to be anything but a beloved figure. And yet, Abby is also such a great role, and Dever is an incredibly talented actress. So in that regard, this could be really great.
But it could also bring so much hate her way. And the internet is awful on the best of days. It’s awful to actresses who don’t deserve it (because it’s awful to women basically always), and it’s awful to characters who have done absolutely nothing wrong, ever. So, I’m not going to spoil why, but the internet is ready to protect Kaitlyn.
And it hopes she never uses social media again. Or at least never looks at the comments.
Really, it’s the best we can wish her. Well, that and she does as great on the job as we know she can.
The Last of Us Season 2 is expected to start production mid-February.
