We’ll take Glen Powell in anything, because hey, who wouldn’t? He’s a good actor and he’s easy on the eyes. He’s creative. And you know he’s fun because well, even his Mama can roast him from time to time.
Now, what we didn’t expect from him was that he would be bringing Chad Powers to life. Now, this sports hating writer even knows who Chad Powers is. The fictional character was brought to life by Eli Manning on ESPN+ series Eli’s Places. Chad Powers is a man who is “too old” but went back to school to play at Penn State.
The logline for the show reads, “When bad behavior nukes hotshot QB Russ Holliday’s college career, he disguises himself and walks onto a struggling southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers.”
The skit was all over TikTok and Instagram (which is how I knew about it) and did I ever expect more? No. But will I watch? Yes. Why? Glen Powell.
“We’re both diehard college football fans,” Powell and co-creator Michael Waldron shared in a statement with The Hollywood Reporter. “When we saw Eli as Chad Powers, we knew that was the way into a big, fun story about this world. We’re excited to be part of this team, and can’t wait to get Chad in the game. Think fast, run fast.”
