Controversial opinion – the original Mean Girls movie will always remain supreme. It doesn’t matter to me what anyone else says/thinks – we said what we said.
The original Mean Girls movie left the world wanting more. It introduced iconic lines, made us all think of the color pink differently, and hey, sitting with people took on a different meaning.
But did you know that Ashley Tisdale could have been in the movie? She auditioned and she auditioned opposite of Blake Lively. This is definitely something that we didn’t see coming or even think about.
While on Watch What Happens Live, Tisdale talked about her audition opposite of Lively.
“It wasn’t… Oh yeah, it was for Karen actually. Gosh, that was so long ago,” Ashley said to Cohen. “I just remember screen testing, and it was me and Blake Lively, and someone else. But yeah, I screen tested, that was like eons ago, obviously.”
What we would give to see this screen test. Those are some of the best parts of the movie making process. We love seeing how things came together, who auditioned, and judging if the casting director made the right choice for the roles.
Don’t judge us, you know that you’re thinking the same thing.
During the screen test, Tisdale recalled, “I just remember I ad-libbed, ’cause I always like in an audition to steal the scene, and I ad-libbed one line, and they put in the movie,” she recalled. “And I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?’”
Wait, wait… what line was it? We need to know.
She joked, “I should’ve gotten a writer’s credit. I’m kidding, yes, but I was like, ‘Dang!’”
Can you imagine the iconic Mean Girls movie with someone else? We can’t either. But we’d love to know who else auditioned. Wouldn’t you?
