Even though it hasn’t been, it truly feels like it’s been years since 9-1-1 was on our television screens. Luckily the wait is about to end, as we have good news: 9-1-1 is returning this week!
Since it has been a bit, we thought everyone could use a refresher before Season 7 finally premieres this Thursday, March 14th.
Season 6 Finale
We’re going to admit even we had to rewatch the Season 6 finale to remember the specifics. May 2023 seems like a lifetime ago. It was a lifetime ago.
But here’s the sign of a good television show: When we rewatched it, all our feelings for the show and the finale came rushing back. We were overwhelmed.
The finale was terrifying. All of the 118 was in danger when they headed off to rescue Jo and Mallory after they were in an accident and then the driver of the truck fell asleep, hitting the bridge they were on. It’s true: the 118 gets put in danger on a weekly basis, but this episode felt different.
Especially when characters were missing.
Maddie was desperate for news on her favorite first responders. But everyone was found, and even if they weren’t in the greatest shape, they lived. To quote Chim, they were “alive but not great.” We’ll take it!
Relationships
Yes, we know the show is titled 9-1-1, and it is about intense and unpredictable rescues, but the relationships on the show are what we care about the most.
Maddie and Chim have been through so much throughout the years. But Season 6 was good for them. They bought a house and at the end of the season, they were engaged! We can’t wait to see their wedding (and maybe it will go off without a hitch, but not likely knowing this show), and how they handle married life.
Buck also had his fair share of romantic complications this year. Wait, scratch that. Not just this year. That’s been on par for the course during the entire show! We’ve lost track of how many relationships he’s had. But this year he decided to be a sperm donor for his friends. And we had our issues with that story. We’re hoping when the show returns, life will be a little easier and happier for him. Maybe things with Natalia, the death doula, will work out. If not, we know he can always count on the 118, especially Eddie, to be there for him. And we’ll never say no to more bromance scenes between Buck and Eddie.
Season 7 – What We Know
Season 6 ended with Bobby and Athena deciding to go on vacation. Based on the promos that ABC has been running the last few weeks, that vacation doesn’t look like it’s going so well. And we have a feeling that after watching the Season 7 premiere, we’ll never want to go on a cruise ever again.
That’s pretty much all we know about the premiere. We hope that Bobby and Athena make it out okay from their cruise and aren’t too traumatized. What else do we want to see this season? Besides Maddie and Chim’s wedding, we always want more of Christopher. He’s growing up, and Chris and Eddie are one of the best father/son duos on TV. We also wouldn’t mind to see Buck continue to grow more in his professional life. He really impressed us in the finale with how he took charge at the accident scene.
And, of course, we’re excited to see more intense, and sometimes, ridiculous, rescues.
What are you looking forward to most when 9-1-1 returns? Let us know in the comments!
9-1-1 airs Thursdays at 9/8c on ABC.
