NCIS 21×07 “A Thousand Yards” is the 1,000th episode of the NCIS Franchise and the seventh episode of this 21st season of NCIS. It’s been quite a run for the franchise, and for the “mothership” in particular, and yet the NCISverse doesn’t feel like it’s slowing down. In fact, there’s enough fuel left on this ship for quite a few seasons yet.
Of course, nothing has been set in stone yet. NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i have yet to be renewed for their respective Season 22 and Season 4 by CBS, but at this point, it feels like a foregone conclusion. NCIS: Origins is coming. NCIS: Sydney has gotten a Season 2 order. Tony and Ziva are coming back for their spinoff. How can we not get the other two shows in the franchise back?
The episode, titled “A Thousand Yards,” features not just an appearance by NCIS: Hawai’i‘s Vanessa Lachey, but one by NCIS: Los Angeles‘ Daniela Ruah as Kensi Blye. That show was sadly canceled last year, and though it ended more or less happily, it did leave fans with quite a loose end when it comes to Hetty, one that still needs to be resolved.
This doesn’t seem to be the time or the place, but we’d at least love an update on Kensi’s pregnancy — and this episode better deliver in that regard.

NCIS LA is how I got into this franchise. 🙂 Yeah, it later drove me bananas for the last few years of it’s run, but it’ll always be the superior one to me, even though I still love this show as well and will probably end up loving the 2 upcoming shows as well. :).
That being said, from what I’m hearing about this episode, it sounds like a lot of nostalgic fun while honoring how far this Verse has come. (and also, I’m hearing that there is an ‘extra special’ guest coming as well, and yeah, I’m hoping that it’s Hetty.) (and I’m also hoping for updates on how her team is doing as well.)
