We watch a lot of TV and movies! And we listen to a lot of music, podcasts, audiobooks…so yeah, we’re fangirling over a lot of things! Each week we come together to highlight all the feels they give us throughout the week. On these Fangirlish Feels of the Week, there are five categories and many thoughts! Ready?
Here we go!
What You’re Fangirling Over This Week
![My Lady Jane](https://i0.wp.com/fangirlish.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/MLJN_S1_UT_103_221111_PRIJON_00725R_CropC2_f.jpg?resize=1024%2C683&ssl=1)
Amanda P.: My Lady Jane is exactly my kind of show: doesn’t take itself seriously, mashes up a bunch of genres, plenty of romance, and doesn’t try to be anything other than exactly what it is. It’s giddy and fun and romantic, and honestly, we could always use more of that!
Shana: Dancing! On! Evil!!!!
Rachel: The Acolyte this week was a stunning episode and it made my Star Wars fangirl heart thrill. The villain reveal! The deaths–SOB! AND THE ENDING. This show is just objectively good.
Ashley T.: I absolutely can’t wait for Star Trek: Prodigy’s premiere on Netflix on July 1, so I’ve been fangirling over the show all over again. Stay tuned here to Fangirlish where I’ll be reviewing all 20 episodes of season 2!
WTF Moment of the Week
![Skye Blakely](https://i0.wp.com/fangirlish.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/image-1.jpeg?resize=1024%2C682&ssl=1)
Amanda P.: I’m pretty sure “WTF” was my constant refrain watching this week’s The Acolyte, in a really good way. An entire episode that’s just one tense, fantastically choreographed action sequence, sudden deaths, the reveal of Darth Arms (sorry not sorry)! My favorite kinds of “reveals” are the ones that answer one question while opening up a bunch more, and that’s what I loved about this episode.
Shana: Skye Blakely coming into Olympic Trials as a favorite for the team again and injuring herself…again. Perhaps certain gyms’ training techniques, as well as the packed schedule of events all on top of each other ahead of the Games, really need to be reconsidered. Just saying.
Rachel: I’m with Amanda– this weeks’s The Acolyte episode was FULL of WTF moments. Even if you expected who the Stranger was, even if you expected the deaths, you still might not have anticipated that switcheroo in the final moments. WTF in the best way.
Ashley T.: What?! You’ve NOT watched Star Trek: Prodigy yet?! Get thee hence to Netflix to get caught up before the season 2 premiere on July 1. If you’ve not watched it, you are missing out on some of the best Star Trek in recent memory. But as the great philosopher LeVar Burton would say, “You don’t have to take my word for it.”
What We’re Listening to This Week
![Taylor Swift](https://i0.wp.com/fangirlish.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Taylor-Swift.jpeg?resize=1024%2C682&ssl=1)
Raquel: I can’t stop listening to Taylor Swift!! Her entire discography occupied my playlist this week.
Rachel: Been a New Kids on the Block fan since elementary school, so this week I’ve been enjoyed their recently released “Still Kids” album. Good stuff.
Ashley T.: I’ve needed some familiar music to keep me going through a busy week this week, so it’s Amy Winehouse and HAIM for me.
What We Rewatched This Week
![Bridgerton 3x08](https://i0.wp.com/fangirlish.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/BRIDGERTON_308_Unit_01611R.jpgBRIDGERTON_308_Unit_01611R.jpg?resize=1024%2C684&ssl=1)
Raquel: Am I rewatching Bridgerton season 3? HELL YEAH! I love watching it all back to back, it gives you another perspective on the story and I just wanted to enjoy it in its entirety for the pleasure of it, after all the work covering the show.
Rachel: Like I’ve said before in Feels of the Week, I’ve been into my comfort movies lately, and this week, that means the ‘80s dance movie Girls Just Want to Have Fun. Because that’s exactly what it is– fun.
Ashley T.: For an upcoming episode of the Video Store Podcast, I’m covering Stephen King miniseries. I’ve got 4 great picks for that episode, but my favorite is the 1994 version of The Stand. It’s not streaming anywhere right now, but this one is worth tracking down on physical media or purchasing digitally.
It’s a movie-level production for the time in most respects, but the performances in this miniseries make it worth revisiting—Gary Sinise, Molly Ringwald, Rob Lowe, Ruby Dee, Bill Fagerbaake, and more. Check it out!
Badass Character of the Week
![Interview with the Vampire](https://i0.wp.com/fangirlish.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/IWTV_207_LH_1027_0120_RT.jpg?resize=1024%2C683&ssl=1)
Amanda P.: It’s gotta be everyone involved in that giant Acolyte lightsaber fight, right? Kudos to Manny Jacinto, especially, for training to do the majority of the fight himself instead of primarily relying on a stunt artist.
Shana: Claudia from Interview with the Vampire. She really stood there, promised to haunt the people who sat by and did nothing during her fixed trial, and then sang the stupid little song they all loved as she burned to ash. Strong til the very end.
Ashley T.: My Star Trek: Prodigy and Star Trek: Voyager viewing this week leaves me with gratitude for the badass that is Captain/Admiral/Hologram Janeway, played by the brilliant Kate Mulgrew. Whether it’s beating the Borg, downing cup after cup of “Coffee! Black!”, or guiding a group of young cadets back to the Federation, Janeway is a force to be reckoned with.
