Marvel gave us our first real look at the upcoming mini-series Agatha All Along in its first official teaser trailer. Within it were plenty of clues as to what Agatha Harkness is going to be facing now that she’s stuck under the spell that Wanda Maximoff put her under in WandaVision.
Alongside the trailer we also got a synopsis that clues us in on Joe Locke’s character and how he plays a more pivotal role than shown in the teaser trailer. According to Disney: the infamous Agatha Harkness finds herself down and out of power after a suspicious goth Teen helps break her free from a distorted spell. Her interest is piqued when he begs her to take him on the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards a witch with what they’re missing. Together, Agatha and this mysterious Teen pull together a desperate coven, and set off down, down, down The Road…
Keeping that in mind, here are 10 things that we noticed from the Agatha All Along teaser trailer!
1. Mare of Easttown, Suspiria, and more references
From the very first moment that you see Agatha on screen, there’s something distinctly wrong with her. She’s playing a character that is straight out of Kate Winslet’s Mare of Easttown. There’s also touches of Suspiria with the demon, ET as they’re going across a moon, and even ’80s horror movies in the final scene of the teaser trailer. Whatever is going on with Agatha, she’s clearly stuck in a crumbling version of the same spell Wanda was under in WandaVision.

2. Hints of the Darkhold
The Darkhold teases Agatha everywhere when it comes to the teaser trailer for Agatha All Along. From the victim’s darkened fingers, a clear sign of the after effects of this dark book, to the stripped and bare trees that she experiences here and there down the witches road. Agatha wants to get her hands on this book once again and even though she doesn’t remember, her subconscious does.

3. State of New Jersey Public Library Card
This library check out card that is on the tag of the body that Agatha found in the teaser trailer, also points to the Darkhold. Agatha was its former owner before Wanda. And this is a sly way for her subconscious to remind her that the thing that is missing is this book. The culprit? W. Maximoff. The fact that it’s a tag on a dead body also feels like Marvel’s way of hinting that the Scarlet Witch is dead. But who is truly going to believe that? Not us.

4. Aubrey in green
Aubrey Plaza’s character Rio Vidal is an original character created for Agatha All Along who is powerful enough to step into the spell Agatha is bound into to free her. There’s also been rumors that she’s Agatha’s ex and a green witch. While Marvel hasn’t officially said what a green witch means, the fact that this universe has emphasized the Scarlet Witch and had all of these infinity stones of different colors and meaning different things, it fits that they would create a character like this. Her powers could even be tied to something significant like the time stone which is also green. Also there’s a part in the trailer where it shows a witch crossing some stones. Some say it’s Agatha. But I think it’s Rio. Especially because it’s said that green witches commune with nature, stones, and gems.

5. Agatha glitching like in WandaVision
For me, the best part of the teaser trailer for the show is the fact that it remembers where it came from. And you can see that when Agatha starts glitching and you are taken through her various outfits when she was in WandaVision. You get the black and white glam of the first episode, the ’80s outfit, and even the Modern Family looking outfit. It also shows that Agatha is shattered. She’s not the same witch we got to know in WandaVision. And maybe that’ll lead her down a path unexpected for this witch. Or maybe it’ll give us an even bigger bad guy for whatever Marvel is doing next.

6. Giving Agatha powers because she has none
This TV show is giving team-up vibes. And while l I don’t trust Agatha to not steal the powers of these witches later on in the mini series, there’s nothing she can do in the beginning to take their powers. So in this scene from the teaser trailer, it looks like they are giving her power, making her dependent on others in a way that Agatha has probably never experienced before. Is she using them? Absolutely. Especially if the rumors that Locke’s character is Billy Kaplan aka Wanda Maximoff’s child who is also stuck under the spell. But Agatha doesn’t know this and he’s definitely using her as well. Ultimately, companionship changes you. And maybe it’ll change these two as well.

7. Rio attacking Agatha after helping her
If Rio is Agatha’s ex and she stepped in to help Agatha out of the spell placed by Wanda, why is Rio attacking Agatha? That’s what I kept asking myself while watching the teaser trailer. At this point Agatha has no powers. You see earlier in the trailer, Agatha moving her fingers like she did in WandaVision, like if she was trying to cast a spell. But she has no powers. So it begs the question: what is Rio after besides the darkhold. Jesus Christ, now that I think about it, it’s probably the darkhold. As its previous owner, Agatha would know where it is. And the fact that Agatha is stuck under this spell tells Rio that she isn’t worthy enough to have its power. So Rio will play along, help Agatha, until she has enough and tries to get information on the darkhold by force.

8. Witches on brooms
The official teaser trailer took the time to actually have the witches on brooms. You could see it in the moment below with Agatha and her coven following behind her. But you could also see it later on in the trailer as they’re flying across the moon. It’s a little cheesy but I appreciate that Marvel is leaning into it, especially with the demons and spooky castles in tow. It’s giving Halloween spooky vibes.

9. Signs of Wanda everywhere
Agatha All Along is giving me the most hope that there is a plan to bring back Wanda. Because in the official teaser trailer you see signs of Wanda everywhere. You see it in her rumored child played by Locke, who shares similar powers to alter reality like Wanda. But you also see it in the hands that grip the tree that remind you of the darkhold version of the Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange 2. And you also see it in the library card tag, the dead body with the black tip fingers, and every single clue of Westview. Wanda’s presence is visceral and with Locke’s character being that mysterious goth teen clued in the synopsis, he definitely wants power to get back what he’s lost: his family.

10. The many titles
Before the mini-series settled on the title Agatha All Along, the show had multiple titles. At one point it was named Agatha: House of Harkness, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, and Agatha: The Lying Witch with Great Wardrobe. Each of them are a clue that Agatha is going to be going through different versions of reality in the same way that Wanda did in WandaVision to go through the pain that she was suffering. The difference with Agatha is that she is aware of the path that she’s going down and absolutely willing to take on anything that comes her way to get her power back.
