Senna, the limited series about the racing driver Ayrton Senna, will debut on Netflix in November. The six-episode outing is the first scripted series about the decorated Brazilian motor racing icon, and it premieres on Friday, November 29. After unveiling the teaser trailer in April 2024, the streamer unveiled key art featuring Gabriel Leone in the titular role, sporting the driver’s trademark green and yellow helmet.
According to Netflix, the fictional series will follow “Ayrton’s journey through triumphs, disappointments, joys, and sorrows, revealing his personality and personal relationships.” Senna will chronicle the driver’s career from his kart years to competing in Formula Ford in England to the tragic accident in Imola, Italy, during the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994.
Throughout his 28-year career, Senna was considered the fastest F1 driver of all time. From 1984 to 1995, the driver won three F1 titles, 41 victories, 65 pole positions, and 80 podiums. Senna’s “legacy inspired the founding of the Ayrton Senna Institute. For 28 years, its mission has been to develop well-rounded individuals, preparing them for all aspects of life in the 21st century.”

Netflix’s Senna features important figures from the driver’s life, like Alain Prost as Matt Mella, Galvão Bueno as Gabriel Louchard, and Xuxa as Pâmela Tomé.
The limited series’ ensemble also includes Alice Wegmann as Lilian, Ayrton’s first wife), Camila Márdila (Viviane Senna, his sister), Christian Malheiros (Maurinho, the driver’s friend), Hugo Bonemer (Nelson Piquet), Julia Foti (Adriane Galisteu), Kazuhiro Muroyama (Soichiro Honda), Marco Ricca (Milton, Ayrton’s father), Nicolas Cruz (Leonardo, his brother), Rodrigo Veloso (Flávio, his brother-in-law), Susana Ribeiro (Zaza, Ayrton’s mother). And also Kaya Scodelario, as a fictional journalist, Laura, Arnaud Viard (Jean-Marie Balestre), Patrick Kennedy (Ron Dennis), Joe Hurst (Keith Sutton), Johannes Heinrichs (Niki Lauda), Keisuke Hoashi (Osamu Goto), Leon Ockenden (James Hunt), Richard Clothier (Peter Warr), Steven Mackintosh (Frank Williams), Terry Fullerton (Rob Compton), Tom Mannion (Sid Watkins), and Tom Mckay (Alex Hawkridge), among others.
Vicente Amorim is the showrunner and director of Senna.
Julia Rezende also directs the series. The Netflix series is written by Álvaro Campos, Gustavo Bragança, Rafael Spínola, Thais Falcão, and Álvaro Mamute, with the head writer being Gustavo Bragança. The limited series is produced by Gullane and created in partnership with Senna Brands and the driver’s family.
