In case anyone was still wondering whether or not Sam Reid was born to play the vampire Lestat, please show them the Interview with the Vampire Season 3 teaser that dropped at SDCC. Honestly, it’s almost as if Lestat himself wrote, directed, and starred in this thing. Just one gorgeous, hilarious, dramatic, bratty moment after another. Iconic, really.
Does the teaser tell us much about the plot? No. But do we care? Honestly? Also no. So, let’s highlight a few of the Prince’s brattiest moments. (If we forget any, it’s because there are so many in so little time.)
An entrance fit for the Prince Lestat

Before the Brat Prince even makes his (grand AF) entrance, we hear “that’s him. Jesus Christ. Look at him.” And, well. If that isn’t the mood. Because that’s basically how we feel every time Reid appears as Lestat, so. Yeah. That part. Then, we don’t even get to see his whole body before his entire attitude is 100% on full display. Even the way he walks in is just…chef’s kiss. And don’t get us started on the very bored way he shuts down EP Mark Johnson with that “I don’t remember you” before sitting down, crossing those legs, and having every single fiber of his being screaming “I would rather be anywhere other than here with you little people. Know I’m giving you the gift of my presence.”
Lestat is too beautiful for makeup, above goblets

It’s the “do I look like I need you,” bitter little smile, and massive side-eye when someone comes to try and touch up Lestat’s makeup for us. Then, since everyone around him is his personal servant, he has to let his disgust be known before declaring “there’s a goblet on the table.” And, like, the (at least) 1000 ways everything about his demeanor screams “this is beneath me” before even pointing out the offending goblet is everything.
Notice he doesn’t ask for it to be removed either. No, no. Announce that the bad thing is there, show you don’t like it, and wait for the plebs to deal with it. That is the Lestat way. While we’re at it, shoutout to the “dehydrated” sound man for surviving the legendary vampire’s derisive glare.
He’s got jokes!

We’re headed into Interview with the Vampire Season 3. So, obviously, we know this particular vampire’s name. (And know it well.) But, when Daniel asks him to state his name for the camera, he just deadpans: “Justin Bieber.” And don’t get us started on his obvious contempt for that book…
Season 3 is going to continue the tradition of using Anne Rice’s Lestat de Lioncourt’s words

Yeah, so the very first paragraph of The Vampire Lestat is in this teaser. But no, the diva in question can’t just…tell his story, out loud, the way his fledgling Louis did. It’s gotta be like, “look at me! Check out my powers!!!” as he uses his Mind Gift to share.
“I am the vampire Lestat. I’m immortal. More or less. The light of the sun, the sustained heat of an intense fire — these things might destroy me. But then again, they might not.”
And to go back to our original point about Reid being born for this…my friends, everything about the delivery, the intensity in his gaze, and the self-satisfied smirk on “maybe not,” is so incredibly on point. We’ve run out of words.
The camera loves the Brat Prince

Ok, so yeah. Rockstar Lestat is a big deal. Listening to some of his music in the teaser is so much fun, even all by itself. As in, they could’ve just dropped the audio and we would’ve lost our minds over it. But! Instead, we get to see the Brat Prince blow kisses, wink, show his fangs, and sport a number of different looks for the camera. It’s just pure perfection. We can’t even decide which look we like best. But that’s fine because they’re all better than anything any other rockstar, actor, or model could ever possibly give.
We really do just keep winning. You thought the shades Armand took as a souvenir when he ate that dudebro were a look? Well, Lestat has something to say about that. Or, rather, he has a lot to show off about it.
And did we mention we’re obsessed with the leather pants? Because we’re obsessed with the leather pants.
