Bear McCreary is back with another score for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power! The composer worked on season one of the Prime Video series. But he’s also worked on huge properties like Outlander, Foundation, The Walking Dead, and even the God of War: Ragnarok game. And just recently he led a group of singers and musicians with giant drums through a part of the soundtrack at this year’s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con.
Today, Amazon MGM Studios announced that The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 soundtrack will be released worldwide on August 23rd. It’ll be tied to the highly-anticipated return of the series later on on August 29th. The soundtrack will be available across all music streaming services. It will also include two new songs featuring renowned vocalists Rufus Wainwright and Jens Kidman. Wainwright is a Grammy-nominated artist who will bring a “thoughtful introspection to his rendition of “Old Tom Bombadil.” And Kidman, lead singer of Grammy-nominated Swedish extreme-metal band Meshuggah, will bring to life “The Last Ballad of Damrod.” That is about a vicious Hill-troll.
But that’s not the only special thing when it comes to season 2 of this Prime Video series.
On August 23rd, the vinyl can be pre-ordered at Amazon Music and HERE. A special Collector’s Edition will also be available for pre-order exclusively on Amazon Music. And as you’re tuning in each week, Amazon Music will release a weekly soundtrack album containing the score for that episode, only available on Amazon Music.

Series stars Sophia Nomvete, Benjamin Walker, Rory Kinnear, and Daniel Weyman will also be lending their vocal talents to several songs on the soundtrack. Nomvete’s dwarven character of Princess Disa is a lead resonator who will sing to the mountain. And Walker, who plays an Elven king, will sing a sorrowful tune in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Elvish language. Kinnear, who joins the show this season as the first live-action version of fan-favorite character Tom Bombadil, and Weyman, who portrays the mysterious Stranger, also collaborate on a reprise of “Old Tom Bombadil.”
