The official trailer for Mufasa: The Lion King came out at D23, and all we can think is “this is yet another reason why rescues are the superior cats.” (Lions are big cats, ok?) A lot of people who still have childhood trauma from seeing “Scar” betray Mufasa are probably going to be even more traumatized by that scene than ever before after seeing this footage. And we’re definitely scratching our heads trying to figure out how Taka went from such a cute, sweet little kitty lion cub to the villain we all know and loathe. But we’re just stuck on one line:
“I’m not a stray. I’m just…lost.”
Friends, it’s summertime — cat season — and there are many future Mufasas out there who are strays lost and looking for their furr-ever homes. Be like young Taka and save their lives. (Just, obviously…don’t…be like old Taka, is all we’re saying.) And for all the talk of needing to “protect the bloodline,” it’s certainly not the big kitty lion from the noble background who grows up to be the hero, now is it? Nope, sure ain’t. That’s why we’re doing away with the traditional movie ratings system and labeling this one an “A” for “adopt, don’t shop.” (We could probably find a lesson about classism in there, too, but the feline overlords told us to keep it short and sweet for now.)
Our only warning is that, should you live with any of our feline overlords who were once strays orphans but are now in charge, you might not want to let them watch these fictional furballs growing up to rule a whole kingdom. Wouldn’t want them to be even more convinced that they’re our superiors, now would we? (Except for the part where, you know, they are.)

Anyway. Someone should tell Scar if he “always wanted a brother,” the thing to do once he actually had one was not to push him off a cliff and leave an entire generation of kids with lasting nightmares. Like, yeah, Taka can be all, “but Dad, I saved his life!” in the trailer and all…but…he sure doesn’t save any lives later. Bad kitty. No treats for him.
