The Bachelorette 21×06 spends a lot of time on Sam’s drama, with Jenn going back and forth on whether he is even worth taking to hometowns. Still, the real winner—or loser—of the hour is truly Spencer, who gets eliminated by Jenn at the end, calls his mom, and leaves us all in tears at the utter heartbreak of feeling like you never get it right. No matter what you do, it’s just never your time.
Spencer has been somewhat unremarkable before this hour, if nothing else because some of the other men on this show have stood out more—for better or worse. But there’s something so wholly relatable about those few moments at the end because almost all of us have felt like that at one point. Romance is hard. Fitting in is hard. And finding someone who makes you feel like you belong, that’s like lighting in a bottle. It’s so rare that people go on reality shows to try to get it!

Nothing can really make this better for Spencer, but a part of me kinda wanted him to get the chance to be the next Bachelor. I mean, Marcus would have also been a fine choice, and I am not complaining about Grant. But I wouldn’t have minded Spencer either. At the very least, someone go hug that man.
Back to the drama, because this wouldn’t be The Bachelorette without it—Sam. Yes, Sam is, as always, THE drama. It’s just that this time we get the satisfaction of Jenn calling him out on it. And boy, is it satisfying. Truly. Because he’s always been sus, mostly in his interactions with other people and in a way that was hard to put our fingers on, and then this episode it all kinda comes together.
Jenn is really, really good at clocking it too, and kudos to her, honestly. It really did feel like Sam was reading off a script. He was giving bad 90s Harlequin romance, and, it was just not working for anyone. The guys called him out on it, Jenn called him out on it, hell… I was kinda waiting for the camera people to call him out on it. Before Sam was giving smarmy, and I swear I thought he had some charisma, but this episode he couldn’t even muster that!

Instead, he seemed to be hoping Jenn was going to hold his hand and tell him how to behave at every turn. It was absolutely a turn-off and I’m glad Jenn saw through it and decided she deserved better. And the nerve of the guy to leave going “This isn’t on me”? Nah, good riddance. Please don’t even show your face at the reunion. Okay, I take it back, maybe at the reunion. We do love the drama.
As for the rest …I still think this is between Devin and Marcus, and considering everything they keep telling us about how Marcus isn’t quite sure, I’m still pretty sure Jenn is going to end up with Devin. But hey, maybe Jeremy and Jonathon can put up a fight during hometowns. We shall see.
Who is the drama: Sam, always Sam
Who left: Grant, Spencer, Sam
The Final Four: Devin, Jonathon, Marcus, Jeremy
Who *is* the next Bachelor: Grant
