Daredevil: Born Again won’t be released until 2025. And, with a trailer yet to be publicly released, it’s no wonder Charlie Cox was hesitant to answer questions and be specific about the upcoming series during his panel at FAN EXPO Chicago 2024 on Aug. 17 in Rosemont, Illinois.
Something Cox addressed with ease and excitement, though? Working with two talented women who have brought their respective strong female lead characters to life in the MCU.
Hollywood Fights and Fun in She-Hulk
If you think of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law as “an awesome experience,” Daredevil himself would agree. Cox described his time working on the Disney+ series in that exact manner, and the show’s titular star played a significant role in that.
“She’s one of the great actors of our generation,” Cox said of Tatiana Maslany. “Such a thrill to work with her. She’s so fun. She made everything so fun and easy.”
From off-the-clock cocktails and conversation to mid-fight banter, Cox and Maslany’s great dynamic was on full display with every scene they shared. He matched the wit and comedic charm of her Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk well. It was a stark contrast to the tone and seriousness required of him in the original Daredevil series. But Cox admitted it was “a good experiment to have him be a little lighthearted.”
A New Cox in the MCU
Cox’s latest appearance as Daredevil was at the beginning of the year, when he made a cameo in the first episode of the Disney+ series Echo. Albeit brief, seeing him take on Alaqua Cox‘s Maya Lopez in an awesome fight scene was a real treat for fans. And it was a delight for him, too — so much so that he hopes to work with her again.
“She’s amazing,” the Daredevil actor said of the Echo star. “She’s a phenomenal performer and played that character beautifully. I know Vincent (D’Onofrio) speaks so highly of the whole experience of that show. So I hope we get some more stuff together in the future, especially because we share the same surname.”
