The Bachelorette ended pretty much the same way the same way the *entire* season went, WITH DRAMA. And sure, there’s been drama on The Bachelorette before. We’ve lived through Jason Mesnick. So it’s not like this show is stranger to that word. But this was not just dramatic and messy, it was cruel. ABC better be paying for Jenn Tran’s therapy after this season of The Bachelorette. Not just that, they better send this girl on a vacation somewhere nice. A spa week? Month?
Whatever Jenn wants, she deserves, because the way this show used her for entertaiment was cruel. And sure, Devin was to blame for 70% of it, but the show could have protected her. They could have had her back. Instead, they chose …whatever this was. Because the way this live finale re-traumatized her just for “entertainment” was horrible. Shameful. And not at all entertaining, I promise.
I’m not even sure we need to go into how the episode went — because I think we all kinda saw the writing on the wall. It was always going to be Devin. And it wasn’t going to be Devin necessarily because he was the better choice, it was going to be Devin because he was sure and Marcus wasn’t. And when you’re in the position Jenn is, you gotta go for sure. You can’t risk your future on someone who might love you. You just can’t.
What we weren’t sure was if Devin was as good as he was pretending to be. There was just something about him that didn’t truly click, that never actually had us rooting for him. And this hour made perfectly clear what that was. Jenn laid it all out …Devin was just one of those guys. Ironically, it seems like Aaron was actually right. Who would have thought?

He was love-bombing Jenn. And then, once he got the girl, well …he didn’t really want the girl! He wanted to win. He wanted the attention. Or, he was mad the girl actually wanted the other boy! Or both! Who cares? And we can go into all the ways Devin is the worst, but I think he’s not really all that special when it comes to guys that are just… not good. In the end, they all kinda fit into a mold. He doesn’t even deserve my rant. Who does deserve my rant?
ABC for the way they framed this episode to take advantage of Jenn’s pain.
Look, we could have been here for a celebration of how horrible Devin is! And how he sorta forced Jenn’s hand after like, pretending he didn’t understand what show he’d signed up for. Because like, the whole OMG I’m going to walk if she doesn’t tell me she loves me thing was mega dramatic, considering this is The Bachelorette. I’m always like, do you people realize what show you signed up for? We were here for the Men Tell All episode, which was basically a roast of Sam M. We had fun with that!
I promise we would have had fun with a roast of Devin! Instead, we did not even roast Devin, who deserved to be roasted, because the entire 3-hour show felt like it buidling up to a roast of Jenn, who had to confront Devin and then be forced to watch herself be humiliated on-screen. Why was that necessary? Someone explain it to me like I’m five! And with Jesse there, pretend like he was sympathetic too?
But girl, let me tell you something Jenn, I know I was hard on you at times, but I am proud of you. Of the person you are, of who you showed us you could be. Of what you’ve grown. You are a true warrior. You went out there and you put your heart on the line in a way I don’t think I would have been able to. You lived and you laughed and you loved and you did all of those things out loud and you were definitely better than all those men. You deserve a big love, and I hope you find it. I’m rooting for you and I know I’m not the only one.
And as for Devin, you dodged a bullet there. I went online after this episode, and it seems like you might have dodged a MAGA-shaped one, so good riddance there. You’re better off. He’s going to trick a woman one day, and I’m glad it wasn’t you.
