After saying goodbye in The Walking Dead finale, the Daryl Dixon spinoff let us catch up with the crossbow-wielding loner. We watched him trek across Paris, face new walker variations, and meet Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi), the boy with the potential to save humanity. However, amidst all the new adventures, one thing became apparent: Daryl (Norman Reedus) isn’t quite the same without Carol (Melissa McBride).
Thankfully, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol is here to right that wrong. Season 2 will pick up with our favorite heroes trying to reunite despite a literal ocean between them. There’s a lot to tackle, but here are the top five things we hope get addressed.
5. Answers About Laurent

The first season of Daryl Dixon caught some heat for steering a little too close to The Last of Us. In short, the series introduces Laurent as the potential key to curing the Wildfire virus. His mother gave birth to him as a walker, and those at The Nest believe he may hold answers. There’s ample metaphor about faith versus science here, but we’re still eager to know if Laurent actually possesses immunity.
4. More Fleshed Out Side Characters

Let’s be real. We’re all tuning in for that same thing: Daryl AND Carol. However, the supporting characters are crucial to telling a satisfying, emotional story. Throwaway side characters have been an ongoing issue across The Walking Dead‘s character-centric spinoffs, including Season 1 of Daryl Dixon. What’s the deal with Codron (Romain Levi)? How did Genet (Anne Charrier) rise to power? And yeah, maybe consider giving Sylvie (Laïka Blanc-Francard) some more speaking lines while you’re at it TWD.
3. Answers About the Zombie Apocalypse

The Walking Dead: World Beyond already told us that the Wildfire virus originated in France. In Season 1 of Daryl Dixon, our heroes encounter all manner of zombie variants wandering Paris, including burners and that more intelligent breed we haven’t seen since the early days of the flagship series. We’re told Genet is working on science to transform walkers into weapons, but the whole plan is a bit… unclear. There’s plenty of potential to expand on the apocalypse origins or even bring in the Civic Republic Military (CRM).
2. An Emotional Carol and Daryl Reunion

Carol and Daryl have had a lot of emotional reunions over the years (cue teary images of Terminus), but none should top their likely reunion in The Book of Carol. We already know Carol ends up in France, which means she crosses the ocean for Daryl. If you ever doubted the power of their relationship, think again. Make us cry, TWD. We can take it.
1. Daryl and Carol Kiss

Okay, maybe some of you are normal, BUT the rest of us have been waiting for a Carol and Daryl romance since he handed her that Cherokee rose in Season 2 of TWD. Their label is unclear, but Daryl and Carol’s sheer dedication to each other extends well beyond “just friends.” If that reunion turns gooey and emotional, maybe… just maybe… the two will acknowledge that with a little smooch. Like, come on, they already said “I love you.”
The Book of Carol will premiere soon on AMC.
This article summed up what we want from TBOC perfectly. Especially #1 and #2. I can’t wait to see it (just 2 more weeks). And I really want to see that kiss! Most of all!
