We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, we love when books that we love are optioned. There is nothing like knowing that the characters that you love are set to come to life.
We fall in love with fictional characters and we’re not ashamed of that. Books are an escape and one series that we absolutely loved was the Off-Campus series from Elle Kennedy.
Prime Video has given a series order to the series, and has hired Louisa Levy (Death and Other Details) serving as showrunner.
What It’s About…
Now, while we don’t know much, because adaptations are more secretive these days. BUT, we do know that 2015 The Deal, will be what the first season (at least) is based on.
The synopsis of the book on Goodreads, “She’s about to make a deal with the college bad boy… Hannah Wells has finally found someone who turns her on. But while she might be confident in every other area of her life, she’s carting around a full set of baggage when it comes to sex and seduction. If she wants to get her crush’s attention, she’ll have to step out of her comfort zone and make him take notice…even if it means tutoring the annoying, childish, cocky captain of the hockey team in exchange for a pretend date. …and it’s going to be oh so good All Garrett Graham has ever wanted is to play professional hockey after graduation, but his plummeting GPA is threatening everything he’s worked so hard for.”

It continues, “If helping a sarcastic brunette make another guy jealous will help him secure his position on the team, he’s all for it. But when one unexpected kiss leads to the wildest sex of both their lives, it doesn’t take long for Garrett to realize that pretend isn’t going to cut it. Now he just has to convince Hannah that the man she wants looks a lot like him.”
The Adaptation
And we have even more faith in the adaptation because Temple Hill has involved. Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen are geniuses who have a tendency to be able to find the best of the best in books to adapt.
“Elle Kennedy’s beloved Off-Campus series, has resonated with a massive audience by tackling relatable topics from self-discovery to the power of connection,” said Vernon Sanders, head of television, Amazon MGM Studios. “With Louisa Levy guiding our series alongside Temple Hill, Leanna, and Neal, our global Prime Video customers will fall in love with this story all over again.”
We can’t wait for more information on this adaptation. We’ll definitely be watching and this writer will definitely be reviewing each and every episode.
