9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5, Episode 3 “C12” picked up right where last week left off: with a huge explosion. In “C12”, we come so close to losing Tommy, TK, and Nancy, and Marjan puts herself in a scary situation. Owen also finally picked a lieutenant. Sort of. We review.
Poisonous Cloud of Death
That was a very appropriate name for what the 126 experienced this week on “C12”. The team had to work together to stop the chemical gas and try to stay alive. Marjan defied Owen’s orders because she thought she could save the day but ended up with burns on her hands. And while we appreciate her dedication to the job, she could have been hurt much worse by ignoring orders.
While talking to Marjan and helping with her burns, Paul discovers Damon’s hat. At this point, we had a feeling that he would end up as the new Lieutenant. And we ended up being right. We love Marjan. We do. But the speech she gave at the end of the episode about herself was correct. Paul was the one who stayed calm, and he was the one who found Damon’s hat. Without him, who knows if Damon would have been rescued? We know Marjan will be a Lieutenant someday, and she’s still a huge part of the 126. But we’re relieved this contest is over.

“Wherever You Go, We Go”
Tommy, Nancy, and TK barely survived “C12.” If the wind hadn’t switched directions, they probably would have died. Those three were so brave by going back to try to save Trina, the news reporter covering the train derailment. And we loved that TK and Nancy wouldn’t even hear about Tommy going by herself. These three are a team and stick together no matter what.
We’re not going to lie, we may have shed a tear or two when Tommy talked to Wyatt and told him the combination to her safe so Judd and Grace would have everything they needed to raise her girls. It was heartbreaking watching Tommy, TK, and Nancy just sitting there waiting to die. Thank goodness the wind switched directions, and they were able to make it home to those they loved. We don’t want to think about how depressing the rest of the show would have been without them.
While Tommy, TK, and Nancy were out trying to save lives, Carlos and Trevor watched Tommy’s daughters. We enjoyed watching these two interact, and Carlos was able to give Trevor some advice. These two were an unexpected part of “C12” and we hope to see more of them together. Carlos definitely understands what it’s like to be in a relationship with a first responder, and we’re more excited about Trevor and Tommy’s future now. The pink nails were an added bonus.

The 126 is Back
We are so excited that Judd is back at the 126! We didn’t picture him being a probie, but this is really the best solution. And after Judd’s epic rescue of Owen, we knew he didn’t belong anywhere else besides a firehouse. And by being a probie, he didn’t take away anyone else’s Lieutenant spot.
It’s going to be fun watching Mateo try to boss Judd around. But, seriously, Judd brings experience and knowledge that no one else has. He will be a valuable asset to everyone, and we think it will be good for Owen to have his best friend back by his side at work.
Other Thoughts:
- We’ve always known that being a first responder is a heartbreaking job, but this week showcased that. First responders, like Wyatt, have to listen to paramedics who may not survive. Knowing there’s nothing he can do. And paramedics knowing they’re going into a deadly situation to save someone else. We’re so thankful for these people.
- Seeing Damon reunited with his brother was the best outcome. We hope they live happy, healthy lives from here on out. And Damon should probably avoid trains.
- Did Owen really pick Paul or was Marjan the name he wrote on his piece of paper? What did he say to her? We may never know.
Agree? Disagree? What did you think about “C12”?
