Like Glinda (Ariana Grande) joining Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) on the train to the Emerald City, the Wicked movie is coming, and Universal has released so much thrillifying news and content to celebrate tickets being on sale.
A Ticket Sales Trailer with Magical Music
Considering it’s been nearly 21 years since it came to Broadway, it should be no secret Wicked is a musical. But none of the movie trailers or promos have explicitly shown musical numbers where we can see that the characters are indeed singing onscreen, expressing their emotions through music and not just it playing in the background — until now. And there’s so much of it!

The ticket sales promo features clips from the Glinda song of all Glinda songs, “Popular,” Fiyero’s (Jonathan Bailey) introductory number, “Dancing Through Life,” Elphaba’s ‘I want’ song, “The Wizard and I,” Glinda and Elphaba’s first duet, “What is This Feeling?” and the one and only “Defying Gravity.”
Wonderful ‘Wicked’ Movie Posters
When tickets for big theatrical releases go on sale, special posters tend to be released in conjunction. Not only did we finally get a recreation of the iconic Broadway musical poster but ones for IMAX, Dolby Cinema, Canada’s D-BOX, Real D 3D and ScreenX.
Selling a Swankified Soundtrack
Republic Records and Universal Music Group has officially announced pre-orders for the Wicked movie soundtrack, which will be released alongside the film Friday, Nov. 22. The drop includes a few vinyl variants and CDs. Target will carry an exclusive vinyl and CD.

The Wicked soundtrack social media even gave fans another preview of another song in its announcement post. We can hear Glinda hitting high notes during the musical’s opening number, “No One Mourns the Wicked.”
With that said, we also have the official track listing, confirming that there will be no new songs in the Wicked movie. All tracks in the 2024 film are ones that appear in the stage version. However, Wicked composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz has confirmed there will be new songs in Wicked, meaning the new songs will be in Wicked: Part Two, which is set to hit theaters in November 2025.
Wicked hits theaters Friday, Nov. 22, and tickets are now on sale. Sect theaters have early access screenings beginning Wednesday, Nov. 20.
