One thing that we’re really big on is support. Supporting people is one of the great gifts that anyone can give – especially if the support is a real thing. Yes, we went there, because we know that a lot of times in life, showing support can be performative and that’s definitely not a way for anyone to live their life.
In Hollywood, it feels like there is a lot of support shown for each other. However, we do know that a lot in Hollywood isn’t what it seems. Normally though, no one is calling each other out. However, we know when one does speak up, there can be repercussion’s. It’s why we admire those who speak up even more and will always have their back.
Sydney Sweeney is one of those that has chosen to speak up. She was asked about a producer, who had called her acting and looks into question. She had said that Sweeney wasn’t pretty and couldn’t act. Vanity Fair asked about the tendency to knock actresses down at their peak.
WOMEN TEARING EACH OTHER DOWN
The actress said about the situation, “It’s very disheartening to see women tear other women down. Especially when women who are successful in other avenues of their industry see younger talent working really hard—hoping to achieve whatever dreams that they may have—and then trying to bash and discredit any work that they’ve done. This entire industry, all people say is ‘Women empowering other women.’ None of it’s happening. All of it is fake and a front for all the other shit that they say behind everyone’s back. There are so many studies and different opinions on the reasoning behind it and said that it’s a generation problem to believe only one woman can be at the top. There’s one woman who can get the man. There’s one woman who can be, I don’t know, anything. So then all the others feel like they have to fight each other or take that one woman down instead of being like, Let’s all lift each other up. I’m still trying to figure it out. I’m just trying my best over here. Why am I getting attacked?”
No one should be attacking anyone. What’s the old adage – if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
