NCIS: Origins Season 1, Episode 7 ‘One Flew Over’ is giving us Gibbs and Franks’ first meeting! Important NCIS lore! And there is, of course, a case to be investigated. But it seems to be mostly about what happened then, and once again, the case that got Gibbs’ wife killed. NCIS: Origins hasn’t really touched on that, though if you’ve watched the mothership, you know a little of how this goes.
So far, NCIS: Origins has done a pretty good job of working as a companion to a show a lot of us have consumed and also as its own thing, which it has to do to be able to draw in new viewers. This episode might even be a new thing, a way to send viewers to NCIS—at least the earlier seasons, and once they’re there, well… some might stay. That’s not just a good thing, it’s a great thing.
