After more than a year away, Mythic Quest is back with a new trailer and some big changes. The Apple TV+’s comedy’s highly-anticipated fourth season teases some new office dynamics, mostly surrounding Dana. David praises her “wild success,” which is further contextualized in a video game event that features her game, Cozy Galaxy. So, in perfect Ian fashion and a nod to the Brady Bunch (Of course, Poppy gets his reference), Ian says, “Everything’s Dana, Dana, Dana.”
Ian and Poppy want to prove they can deliver “on time” and “on budget,” which may explain how the Mythic Quest trailer opens. Ian, sleeping in diamond earrings, wakes up and rushes to Poppy’s house – in the middle of the night – to tell her about a dream he had “last night,” according to him. Poppy sets the record straight by reminding him that it’s still very much that same night. It’s no wonder the season’s description reveals, “Stars rise, egos clash, relationships bloom, and everyone tries to have a little more work work life balance.”

That balance is already complicated in the Mythic Quest trailer alone.
With AI that “may not be ready” and Carol welcoming “the robots,” it’s safe to bet the new season will tackle technological advancements – for better and worse. As if that’s not enough, David is served to appear in front of Congress (with Rachel). Why could that be? Well, kids are using Playpen to create sex games, which Mythic Quest profits from. So, it’s fair that a Congressperson asks, “What exactly is the good in profiting off of children?” To which Rachel hilariously replies, “I do not recall.”
As for the personal, Poppy has a boyfriend! It’s not Ian, but Ian does know about him. A few shots of Poppy and her unnamed boyfriend are in the trailer. Mythic Quest leaves most of the details to be discovered when the season has its two-episode premiere on Wednesday, January 29, on Apple TV+. The 10-episode season will unfold with weekly releases until the season finale on March 26. But that won’t be the end of Mythic Quest – not really.

Side Quest, the new anthology series about people impacted by the game, will premiere all four episodes on Wednesday, March 26. Created by Katie McElhenney, Ashly Burch, and John Howell Harris, the spinoff series stars Rob McElhenney, Anna Konkle, Derek Waters, William Stanford Davis, Bria Samoné Henderson, Rome Flynn, Leonard Robinson, Gary Kraus, Annamarie Kasper, Esai Morales, Shalita Grant and many more. Meanwhile, Mythic Quest Season 4 sees the return of stars McElhenney, Charlotte Nicdao, David Hornsby, Danny Pudi, Ashly Burch, Imani Hakim, Jessie Ennis, and Naomi Ekperigin.
The new trailer also teases the return of Elisha Henig as Pootie Shoe, who hasn’t appeared on the show since Mythic Quest Season 1, Episode 8, “Brendan,” in 2020. There’s also a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it glimpse of Charlie Day in an unnamed role. Day created Mythic Quest alongside McElhenney and Megan Ganz, but Season 4 will be the first time he appears in the workplace comedy.
Perfectly, the trailer featuring Day debuts on the same day as the highly-anticipated Abbott Elementary and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover episode. (It airs on ABC on Wednesday, January 8, at 8:30 EST!) Day stars in and executive produces the Philly-set sitcom developed by stars and executive producers McElhenney and Glenn Howerton. It’s a good day to be a comedy TV fan.
