Lauren Graham is returning to TV. The actress, who most people know for her turn as Lorelai Gilmore on Gilmore Girls, is set to appear in The Z-Suite on Tubi alongside Nico Santos. The show, which will premiere on February 6, focuses on a generational clash between C-Suite executives and Gen Z employees in the middle of a boutique NYC ad agency.
So, basically, not anything like Graham’s most famous role. It’s also not even close to her character in the recent The Mighty Ducks TV series, much less her role as Sarah Braverman on Parenthood. Though, now that we think about it, it might have some shades of Joan on Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. Now that’s a character we loved, and we’ve missed.
(If you need a reminder, here’s Joan singing (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction”)
Graham spoke about the new role and was very clear about how different it was. Still, she hoped fans would check it out nonetheless. “There are no similarities and I hope they’ll come along for this ride,” she told THR.
“I can’t do that,” she added. “I can never replicate the beauty and the magic of that character and that writing and that time, so I might as well not try. This is something very different, but she’s fun and kooky and the show has a spirit to it that I think has a coziness to it, but it’s very different character.”
This might be nostalgia talking, but we’ll follow Lauren Graham everywhere. And also, this looks very fun! And it’s such a great cast.
Generations clash when the award-winning C-suite at Atelier Ad Agency is canceled and pushed out and the Gen Z social media team is put in charge.
