Kate Todd in NCIS: Origins? We’d say stranger things have happened, but we’re not actually sure they have. Still, during a recent ScreenRant interview with David J. North and Gina Lucita Monreal, the co-showrunners of NCIS: Origins, the question was brought up. Presumably, because no one thought to question how Todd would even show up.
Could Kate Todd Show up on NCIS: Origins?

The answer North gave was very diplomatic, saying, “To my knowledge, I believe when I’ve been in there, it’s not come up, but I worked with Sasha [Alexander], who played Kate Todd in the early years of NCIS. I actually worked with her on Rizzoli & Isles too. I’m a huge fan of her and a huge fan of that character. So again, we never say never on anything. If the right idea comes up, maybe there’s something there.”
It makes it sound like there’s a possibility, but really, there shouldn’t be. Caitlin “Kate” Todd was a very important part of the first few seasons of NCIS before she was tragically killed by Ari Haswari, a Mossad double agent. This happened at the end of the second season of the show and was immediately followed by the show’s introduction of Ziva David, played by Cote de Pablo, at the beginning of Season 3.
That makes it sound like there’s a chance she could have known Gibbs before so, she could show up on NCIS: Origins! Except for where they presumably meet in the NCIS pilot! Oh, and also… the fact that NCIS: Origins is set in 1991, which would make Todd, who was in her late twenties or thirty at the most when she died, a teenager with no reason to get involved with the NCIS: Origins team, much less in a way that leads her to later forget she ever met Gibbs!
I mean, sure, they could do it for the nostalgia. But Kate Todd in NCIS: Origins truly makes no sense. We’ve watched enough NCIS and NCIS: Origins to tell you that this one’s probably a long shot. And considering how much it would change, that’s actually a good thing.
NCIS and NCIS: Origins air on Mondays on CBS.
