One of the latest additions to the growing list of them is Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero. The show takes us to 1936 England, where the lives of several characters become entwined in a complex web of secrets, lies, and murder. At the heart of the story is Nevile Strange, a popular tennis star who is embroiled in a scandalous divorce from his first wife, Audrey.
Nevile, along with his new wife Kay, and Audrey, all converge at Gull’s Point, the coastal estate of Nevile’s wealthy aunt, Lady Tressilian. What begins as a gathering of family and acquaintances soon descends into chaos when a murder takes place, sending the group into a tense investigation. The cast of Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero is an ensemble of talented actors who will bring Christie’s intricate characters to life. Anjelica Huston plays the pivotal role of Lady Tressilian, the formidable matriarch of the family whose estate becomes the setting for the drama. Matthew Rhys portrays Inspector Leach, the detective who takes charge of the murder investigation. Oliver Jackson-Cohen stars as Nevile Strange, the tennis star caught in a scandal that threatens to overshadow his career and personal life. Mimi Keene plays Kay Elliott, Nevile’s new wife, whose presence adds tension to the already strained dynamics.
For her part, Ella Lily Hyland takes on the role of Audrey Strange, Nevile’s ex-wife, whose return stirs up unresolved feelings and complicates the investigation. Clarke Peters appears as Mr. Treves, a mysterious guest whose role becomes increasingly important as the story unfolds. And Jack Farthing plays Thomas Royde, a character whose motivations further add to the mystery.
Directed by Sam Yates and written by Rachel Bennette, a BAFTA-nominated writer, Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero promises a compelling and fresh take on Agatha Christie’s classic. Filming took place in 2024 in and around Bristol, as well as along the Devon coast. The choice of location is crucial, as the atmospheric settings are integral to the mood and tone of the story.
