9-1-1 Season 8 has dropped the trailer for the 2-part thriller “Contagion” and we’re terrified for the 118. From what we can tell, the 118 is responding to a call about a fire at a secure facility that has lethal viruses. And when they get there, an explosive fire happens. What follows is Bobby, Chimney, and Chimney stuck inside the facility with Buck on the rooftop and Athena providing support outside.
At one point in the trailer Athena asks what they can do to save the trapped firefighters inside. And an official looking man tells her that opening those doors would release a dangerous virus to the public. If we combine that with visuals of Bobby and Chimney fighting to get out, and Hen collapsing, we’re worried that someone might not make it out alive; particularly Hen. But that last bit could be to throw us off from the actual person we’re going to lose.

Online sleuths have also taken into account showrunner Tim Minear’s love for old disaster movies. For Season 8’s beenado he was inspired by the 1978 film The Swarm. And now some people think that “Contagion” is inspired by the 1965 film The Satan Bug. In that film, “A germ that could destroy life on Earth is stolen from a biological warfare lab and the thief threatens to release it into the open, prompting a security officer to act.”
