FBI: International is about to end, and as it winds down to the end, this writer is on the edge of her seat waiting to see what happens next. While I have read some reviews that say that the show has “given up,” I would beg to differ. I believe that FBI: International continues to find its footing, which is what makes it harder to know that it is ending.
This season, the addition of Jesse Lee Sofer has made the show even better. His addition has brought us Wes Mitchell, and that character has brought out the best in all of the characters we’ve grown to love.
Lone Wolf was an exceptional episode – one that has made us think more and more about the world around us. With everything changing all of the time in the world around us, we’re a little hesitant to get into the political part of it.
What we will dive into in this episode and the way that The Fly Team will be missed. We don’t care what anyone else says, they will definitely be missed.

MITCHELL AND BOOTH
At the end of the last episode, we saw Mitchell unable to keep the computer on for his biological father’s commutation hearing. I know that his biological father was abusive, and Wes’s not being able to stay on the camera was not shocking. If anything, it added a human element to Wes. It made me feel as if Wes was someone that I could relate to, because no matter how much he moved forward, his trauma was there.
And that makes him human and relatable.
Trauma drives you to do things that you normally wouldn’t do, or it causes you to close off. For Wes, it’s pushed him to be an agent who protects everyone, and also doesn’t face his own issues.
I have to wonder, though, if just because he’s halfway around the world, that will keep him from having to face his bio Dad. Something tells me that he will, and I am scared for him for that.
Booth knows that this is going to change Mitchell. He says that he’ll keep tabs, but Wes says it’s not necessary. However, being a good friend, Booth knows that he’s still gonna do that anyway.
Dean manages to call the office, and Tate doesn’t know who he is. Mitchell lets her know that she can patch him through. I couldn’t believe that Wes took the call, but I also admired him for it. Maybe taking the call – that for him – was a way to get closure.
I don’t really believe that anyone ever gets closure. What you get is endings. Wes telling Dean that there is no deal on seeing him makes me think that Wes got an ending.
And I pray that it’s not just a beginning.

WHO CAN SUPERVISE
Before the team leaves for Georgia, Wes calls Vo and Raines into the office. And I hate to say it – but I am hoping that what happens next means we’ll get one of them on FBI: CIA. I need to have some of this group with me for the future.
There is a GS-14 spot open at HQ, and it would oversee a lot of the international teams. Vo and Raines are both being looked at for the job.
Now, if you’ve watched FBI: International, you know that these two want to be in charge. They want to climb the ladder in the FBI, and both have expressed they want to be the director one day.
Going up against each other – if it were anyone else, I would think that there would be a lot of petty things that would happen. However, with these two, I do believe that it’s support that will be given.
And by the end of this episode, we know that is what will happen. Their friendship comes first, and for these tw,o they won’t let anyone change that. They will remain the best of friends.
And I love that for them. Their friendship is what we all want out of life.

TATE AND HER CREW FOR THE WIN AGAIN
I know that I say it over and over again, but Tate and her team are amazing. I wish I knew how to use a computer like she does. That woman is on top of everything, and the way that her mind works is amazing.
The woman is a genius.
The team is always looking for a reason that things are happening, and it is Tate and her team that make sure that they can. They can find the clues, the moles, the money… you name it.
Amanda and her team are able to look at things from such a different POV than the rest of the team, and I love that they make me think about angles. What angle are you looking at things from? Well, l they will show you perspective. And that is some really good writing.
I love so much that her unit is tight-knit. It is something that is essential, and the rest of the team knows it. I would love to be her, but I also feel a little like I wouldn’t want to be her. Why? She has to deliver all of the bad news all the time. But it’s nice to see how much Wes trusts her.
Yes, I ship Wes and Amanda – but I do love their work relationship also. It’s important that you trust the people that you work with.

THE AMERICAN COMMUNITY CENTER
This is a worst case scenario.
General, I have to admit that I have never agreed with you more than this, but we both could be wrong here. Terrorism against Americans in Georgia, with the first thing American soldiers being shot while training for NATO, and the next an explosion at the American Community Center. What is happening? Well, the Fly Team has a lot of theories, but what I am so confused about is why we’re seeing that things that are happening have had clues.
And then again, I have to wonder what it is that these terrorists are doing. How do they think that America will ever not fight back? They blew up the community center to get the Marines away from the embassy. Wes was smart enough to realize that meant they were coming for the embassy.
Seeing Booth there and making calls was captivating and showed us what a good agent he is. The relationship that these two have is something that friendship dreams are made of. They’ll do anything for each other, and their working relationship is something that we all can learn from.
Seeing one of them stuck in the embassy and one outside, I just had to believe that everything would be okay.
The possibility of seeing Booth and Mitchell working together even more – it’s part of what makes me so upset about this show ending. These two are so fun to watch, and the possibility of what could have been – it’s depressing.

THE EMBASSY
Booth at the embassy – he has to make a choice. One that I do not wish on anyone. Honestly, his heart had to have hurt.
One thing that I love about Booth is his empathy. As he makes the choice to put the embassy in lockdown, you can see that he’s debating it in his own mind. However, with Booth, what you do know is that he will always trust Wes’s lead.
And Wes wasn’t wrong. He was right when he said that the terrorists were going to come for the embassy. As they enter, Booth is rushing everyone into the safe room.
Only one person is left outside. Not because Booth wanted to leave her outside. She was trying to destroy top secret information, and as she was running for the safe room, gunfire erupted. No part of me blames her for falling to the ground, not wanting to get shot.
Unfortunately, Booth runs out of ammo and has no choice but to close the safe room door, leaving her outside. I’m not ashamed to say this made me gasp and jump. I know that would have been the hardest decision to make.
Without a doubt, I know that Booth would have saved her if he could have. The fact that he had all of these people to worry about, though, meant that he couldn’t. You could see that it destroyed him.
The team is having to go through every motion to save the people in the embassy, and they do. It takes a lot for them to feel the need to storm the embassy, but they do.
It’s one thing that I will miss about this team. I watch all the FBI’s and none of the teams move in sync like this one does. It’s after the mission is over, though, and Vo and Raines are drinking a beer, and they talk about the comfort of the team and it feeling like home, that I realize it’s the same thing for me.
They are talking about their job, but to me, it was like they were speaking to me about the show.
FBI: International does feel like home. It’s a comfort show and one of those ones that when it goes into syndication one day, I will watch over and over again. Sometimes a show will stick with you.
And this one will stick with me.

OTHER THOUGHTS
- Booth having the talk at the end and making apologies – I teared up
- Loved the General
- Can’t ever deal with this ending
- Again, if Wes’ Dad shows up – I am gonna be pissed. He doesn’t need that trauma
FBI: International airs Tuesdays on CBS.
