While fans longing for a MobLand Season 2 are currently in limbo, Paramount+ may have just hit paydirt with MobLand. Although Top Boy‘s Ronan Bennett and Snatch director Guy Ritchie’s star-studded crime drama hasn’t been formally renewed, early signs imply it’s more a question of “when” than “if.”
Still running, the 10-episode first season will conclude on June 1, 2025, and it has already established a record on the network.
With 8.8 million viewers in its first week, per TV Insider, MobLand is the most popular worldwide series premiere ever on Paramount+. And yet, as of late May, there’s still no green light. That’s not unusual for Paramount+, which tends to wait until after full-season rollouts before confirming renewals.
“The plan is definitely to see more seasons,” Tom Hardy told The Hollywood Reporter. Hardy, who plays tormented fixer Harry Da Souza on MobLand, hinted that the show’s next chapter could even go international!
He added, “There are families in each European country vying for power… Who polices that, and how does it fit into a world stage?”
Paramount+ has every reason to renew MobLand, and fast!

Thus far, MobLand has gotten viewership and buzz with the likes of 1923 and Landman, two Paramount+ successes that got rapid renewals. With 2.2 million global streams, MobLand smashed opening-day records and quadrupled that total in seven days, Radio Times reports.
A great attraction and an expensive one, the ensemble cast (including Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, and Paddy Considine) is especially glamorous. Scheduling for such a group also presents a major challenge. Any production delay could push a future MobLand Season 2 to 2027.
Early achievements like these are, nevertheless, uncommon, and Paramount+ has already poured much into quality crime series.
Hardy is pushing for the show’s renewal; he even proposes that future seasons may explore the geopolitics of existing criminal organizations. This stance fits Ronan Bennett’s grounded world-building as well as Guy Ritchie’s style.
Season 2 would bring back core power players
While plot specifics are still under wraps until Season 1 ends, Hardy’s Harry Da Souza is expected to anchor any future plotlines.
Whether Brosnan’s Conrad Harrigan or Mirren’s Maeve make it through Season 1 alive remains to be seen. But MobLand fans can likely expect familiar faces like Joanne Froggatt, Mandeep Dhillon, and Anson Boon to return, depending on how the Harrigan family war plays out.

Despite an unconfirmed report from The Sun suggesting possible cancellation, no reputable source has backed that claim. With record-breaking viewership and a cast willing to return, all signs point toward a second season.
Until Paramount+ makes it official, viewers will have to keep waiting for the season finale and keep speculating about MobLand Season 2.
