Tom Ellis in a procedural is a yes for us. Things, after all, worked out really well on Lucifer. And though some might argue that wasn’t exactly a procedural, especially in the later years, it started out as exactly that. And on FOX, to boot. So we trust that Ellis knows what he’s doing with CIA. And he seems to know what to say to get us excited about the relationship at the center of this new upcoming show.
Talking to TVLine during the upfronts, Ellis teased that the relationship will be “productive but also very difficult, because they have very different philosophies on how to achieve goals.”
Interesting. It might become even more interesting once we know who Ellis will be acting against, as the role of his partner has not yet been cast. Or at least, it hasn’t been revealed yet, because considering the show is set for this Fall, we assume filming needs to begin soon enough that this casting is probably already set or very close to being set.
Ellis also shared that his character, Hart Hoxton, will not play by the rules at all. Instead, “he is someone who has to use guile and deceit and lies to get what he wants,” adding, “There’s a large dose of moral ambiguity that comes with him.”
Are we getting even more Lucifer vibes from this now? Yes. Are we upset about it. Absolutely not.
CIA is set to have David Hudgins as showrunner, with Eriq La Salle directing the first episode. The show will air on Mondays at 10 after FBI, though no premiere date has yet been announced.
I am so torn, depending on who plays his partner if I will give this show a watch. Not really a Tom Ellis fan but who knows this show my make me a fan of his
