We hate cancellations, even though we know they happen. But just because something happens doesn’t mean we have to like it. NBC has decided not to renew Grosse Pointe Garden Society for a second season.
We know that cast options were in danger of running out, and so NBC had to make some choices. They had debuted their fall schedule over a month ago, and Grosse Pointe Garden Society wasn’t on it.
We knew that wasn’t a good sign, but we were holding out hope. After all, what is life if you don’t have hope?
Peacock passed on picking up the show, and while we do understand that we don’t understand all of the reasons why executives make the choices that they do, we wish they had picked this up. The show had some troubles gaining an audience, but in its defense, it originally premiered after Suits: LA, and that was a death sentence.
They eventually moved the show to Fridays, and it picked up steam. It aired on Peacock the day after, ending up frequently in Peacock’s daily Top 10.
We don’t know why it is that they didn’t pick it up or renew it, but here we are.
It was good while it lasted.
