It seems like Tracy Spiridakos time solving crimes isn’t up yet.
According to Deadline, Spiridakos is set to lead the USA Network Anna Pigeon series. It’s an adaptation of the award-winning mystery series by Nevada Barr. In the books, Anna Pigeon is a National Park Ranger who travels the country solving mysteries in the wilderness and historic locales. And according to Goodreads, Barr draws inspiration from her own time as a park ranger.
The Anna Pigeon book series has 19 books as of 2016. The first book, titled Track of the Cat, was published in 1993. In that book, “Fleeing New York to find refuge as a ranger in the remote backcountry of West Texas, Anna Pigeon stumbles into a web of violence and murder when fellow park ranger Sheila Drury is mysteriously killed and another ranger vanishes.”
For the TV adaptation, Spiridakos plays a “former city slicker who became a park ranger after a devastating loss changed the trajectory of her life forever.” And this is her first major role after her departure from Chicago P.D., which she had been on for seven seasons and where she played character Haley Upton. She joined the show as a series regular after appearing in Season 4 of the series.
Anna Pigeon is set to premiere in 2026. And it’s part of USA Network’s relaunch into scripted originals. Previous scripted originals include Queen of the South, Psych, Burn Notice, and Suits. And personally, in a sea of mediocrity and the same kind of networks pumping out the same kind of shows, USA Network gave us something different every single time, leading to memorable shows like Suits or Burn Notice.
The green-lighting of Anna Pigeon comes on the heels of the release of Netflix’s Untamed. That show stars Eric Bana as a National Parks Service agent who investigates a brutal death at Yosemite National Park. And even though it was billed as a limited series, Netflix confirmed that a Season 2 is in the works.
