After a few months of anticipation, we finally know when we can step into the world of Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. The three-time Academy Award-winner debuted a first-look at the upcoming film at Netflix’s Tudum in May. Now, the streamer has shared that Frankenstein will release in select theaters on Friday, October 17, before premiering on Netflix on Friday, November 7.
The film’s logline reads as follows:
Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro adapts Mary Shelley’s classic tale of Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant but egotistical scientist who brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.

The streamer has also shared more photos from del Toro’s adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus. Whether it be a glimpse at flashbacks of a young Victor Frankenstein before he becomes Oscar Isaac or teases of Jacob Elordi as Frankenstein’s monster, Creature, or a closer look at Mia Goth as Elizabeth Lavenza, Victor’s fiancée, there is plenty to appreciate about these photos.
The movie also stars Felix Kammerer, David Bradley, Lars Mikkelsen, Christian Convery, with Charles Dance, and Christoph Waltz. J. Miles Dale and Scott Stuber executive produce alongsider del Toro, who also wrote the film.
Guillermo del Toro spoke about his attachment to the projec and his dedication to bringing this film to life while on Netflix’s Tudum stage:
“Exploring the relationship between humanity and monsters, creator and creation, father and son has consumed my stories again and again. I wanted to make this film before even I had a camera, and I’ve been actively pursuing it now for 25 years.”
Now, it’s only a matter of months until audiences get to experience this gothic tale through del Toro’s pen and lens. Until then, anticipatory fans can dive into what the photos and key art reveal about Frankenstein.
