It feels Julia Garner is everywhere in 2025. She was in the horror film Wolf Man earlier in the year. Then she made her Marvel debut in The Fantastic Four: First Steps as the Silver Surfer. And most recently she starred in the highly acclaimed horror movie Weapons. But what else has she been in?
In an effort to get more people into Garner’s work, we’ve put together a list of 5 TV shows and movies to get to know the talented actress. We’ve also included where to watch her work, including two picks that are free to stream. There’s a little bit horror, a little bit of indie, and of course, the show she’s best known for.

1. Ozark (2017-2022)
Ozark is where it all started with my love for Julia Garner. And it wasn’t just because of her character Ruth going viral when she screamed, “If you want to stop me, you’re gonna have to f**king kill me!!!” Her Ruth was ambitious, brutal, and bold. And in a cast with Jason Bateman and Laura Linney, Garner stood out. She shined.
Ozark is available to watch on Netflix.
2. Apartment 7A (2024)
Apartment 7A is more than just a prequel to the iconic horror film Rosemary’s Baby. It’s a testament to Garner’s love for horror and her ability to fully immerse herself in her characters. It’s also one of her movies that I think plenty of people slept on or dismissed because they didn’t recognize her without her iconic blonde curls.
Apartment 7A is available to watch on Paramount+.
3. Modern Love (2019)
Modern Love is an anthology series where every episode tells a different story based on a post from the column of the same name from The New York Times. Adapted for Prime Video, it has a bunch of celebrities, including Garner. Her story in Season 1 Episode 8 might be a little uncomfortable for some. But it’s an honest look at how confusing love is sometimes.
Modern Love is available to watch on Prime Video.
4. We Are What We Are (2013)
We Are What We Are is a little more mystery than horror. But it still manages to show Garner’s range and love for experimenting in a chillingly different story. A remake of the 2010 Mexican horror film Somos lo que hay, We Are What We Are is a movie about loss and continuing disturbing traditions. And Garner is one of the sisters at the heart of this decision. For those that are squeamish, you might want to look up warnings for this one.
We Are What We Are is available to watch on Roku for free.
5. Electrick Children (2012)
One of Garner’s earliest works was the indie film Electrick Children. Starring alongside Rory Culkin, it’s the story about a 15-year-old girl from a Mormon community who believes she’s pregnant after listening to a song. So she goes on an adventure to Vegas to find the father of her “miracle baby.” At the heart of it, it’s a typical coming-of-age movie with a stronger beginning than end. But it’s still a worthy movie to check out if you want to get to know Garner. Also, it’s free to watch.
Electrick Children is available to watch on Prime Video for free.
