Sports dramas are everywhere these days, and we aren’t mad about it. Even me, who has an aversion to sports. Won’t play them but will watch dramas about them. I have been a little hesitant to start watching one after Spinning Out was cancelled, but then Off Campus went into production, and here I am giving it a chance. And the next one that is on my list?
Rally, coming from Julie Plec. Yes, Andre Agassi is involved, too, but I have never been a fan of his. Long story. Amazon MGM Studios, Universal Television, and Entertainment 360 are teaming up on a show set in the world of competitive tennis.
The show is set at a competitive tennis academy and “follows ambitious young players who discover the loneliest sport in the world demands sacrificing the very connections that might be the only thing that makes winning feel worth it.”
Entertainment 360’s Guymon Casady came up with the idea. He’s a fan of tennis and has spent a lot of time traveling with his sons to tennis tournaments and tennis academies. 360 then partnered with My So Called Company before Plec decided to write the series.
You know that we love most anything that Plec is a part of. We think she’s a creative genius. The Vampire Diaries and all of its spin-offs have been a major part of our fandom lives.
While we don’t know what will happen or what comes next, we’ll be paying attention to it.
