USA’s The Rainmaker is, above all, a courtroom drama. The show follows Rudy Baylor, who, fresh out of law school, ends up going head-to-head with courtroom lion Leo Drummond and his law school girlfriend, Sarah, all while uncovering not one, but two different conspiracies surrounding his own client, which he represents alongside boss Bruiser.
But the human element of The Rainmaker is what sets it apart. And Kelly Riker is part of that. Kelly is Rudy’s neighbor and friend, and in the 1997 film from director Francis Ford Coppola, the role was famously portrayed by Claire Danes. In the USA show, however, the role is played by Robyn Cara.
In a sneak peek of episode 7, which airs tonight, we see Rudy checking in on Kelly. But he does more than check in; he brings her a way to protect herself from her abusive husband: a gun. To see her reaction, you can watch the sneak peek below:
