We’ve been thinking hard about what our next era is – planning for our personalities for the rest of 2025 and leading into 2026. Now, there are a lot of options out there, but we’re not excited for anything as much as we’re excited for the Off Campus series on Prime Video.
Are we going to have to learn about hockey? Probably. Will it be something that we don’t want to do? Maybe. But we won’t complain because we want to know everything that there is to know. If you’ve read the books or seen the social profiles for the Off Campus series, you know that it’s all about hockey and romance.
We’re entering our sports romance/drama era. It’s where we hope to live for a long time.
Here’s everything we know about the Off Campus series, coming to Prime Video.
WHAT IT IS ABOUT
The first season will be based on the first novel in the series, The Deal. The subsequent seasons (and we are definitely wanting them all) will each follow a different book in the series – The Mistake, The Score, The Goal, and The Legacy. The Legacy is a novella with short stories about the couples in the Briar U series. And hey, trust us, the novels and the spinoff novels are really good.
The official synopsis of the show reads, “follows the unlikely romance between a wry, hockey-hating music major (Bright) and Briar University’s playboy star center (Camelli). The series depicts the elite ice hockey team, and the women in their lives, as they grapple with love, heartbreak, and self-discovery—forging deep friendships and enduring bonds while navigating the complexities that come with transitioning into adulthood.”
THE SYNOPSIS OF THE FIRST BOOK – THE DEAL
She’s about to make a deal with the college bad boy… Hannah Wells has finally found someone who turns her on. But while she might be confident in every other area of her life, she’s carting around a full set of baggage when it comes to sex and seduction. If she wants to get her crush’s attention, she’ll have to step out of her comfort zone and make him take notice…even if it means tutoring the annoying, childish, cocky captain of the hockey team in exchange for a pretend date. …and it’s going to be oh so good!
All Garrett Graham has ever wanted is to play professional hockey after graduation, but his plummeting GPA is threatening everything he’s worked so hard for. If helping a sarcastic brunette make another guy jealous will help him secure his position on the team, he’s all for it. But when one unexpected kiss leads to the wildest sex of both their lives, it doesn’t take long for Garrett to realize that pretend isn’t going to cut it. Now he just has to convince Hannah that the man she wants looks a lot like him.
WHO IS IN CHARGE OF THE SERIES
The adaptation was created and is being led by Louisa Levy. She has written on shows such as Death and Other Details, Doubt, and The Flight Attendant. She and Gina Fattore serve as executive producers and co-showrunners.
“There’s something really unique and special about college-age romances where it’s not really that first love kind of vibe, it is something potentially more, and you’re still discovering so much about yourself,” Levy told EW. “It’s more mature and sexier than high school. These characters are so sex-positive, especially in the first book, which is the tentpole of our first season. It’s this really deep romance that also has nuances of exploring who you are in the bedroom. There’s really lovely elements to who you want to be as a human that gets reflected in the steamy sex scenes that we have coming up this season.”
And hey, if you’ve been around adaptations for a while – Temple Hill Entertainment is on the project and yes, we know they didn’t create it – but that also gives us pause to know it’s going to be good.
