Another chapter and a new duke await! The Buccaneers has been renewed for Season 3 on Apple TV+. This news comes after its sophomore season wrapped up with The Buccaneers Season 2, Episode 8, “She Knows,” in August. That season finale is full of twists and turns for the titular characters. One of the biggest is that Theo, the Duke of Tintagel, renounces his title so that he can be with Lizzy Elmsworth. Meanwhile, Nan St. George, free from the title of Duchess but pregnant with Theo’s baby, runs away from it all in the episode’s final moments.
Nan leaves her friends, Conchita Marable, Mabel Elmsworth, and her sister Jinny looking for her. Conchita recently lost her husband, Richard. Mabel is wading through a break-up with Honoria Marable, who is teaching in Paris. Conchita and Mabel also entertain the idea of creating a more inclusive way of “making introductions” in society. Jinny is facing more public scrutiny while raising her son. Thankfully, The Buccaneers Season 2, Episode 7, “All Rise,” reveals that James Seadown is in jail for fratricide (but not his abuse of Jinny) after killing Richard. Nan also leaves behind the love of her life, Guy, who is still married to Paloma, a woman he met when escaping to Italy with Jinny.

What Is The Buccaneers Season 3 About?
Not to mention, Blanche, the Dowager Duchess of Tintagel, drops a major bombshell on The Buccaneers’ newcomer and Hector’s father, Reede Robinson. She says that Theo has a brother, Kit, whom he doesn’t know about. Not only that, but Kit is shown to be on his way to take over the title of the Duke of Tintagel. There is no word on who will be playing Kit. However, the Season 2 finale and the Season 3 description make it easy to anticipate the character’s arrival.
The season’s synopsis reads as follows:
In the first season of The Buccaneers, a group of fun-loving young American girls exploded into the tightly corseted London of the 1870s, setting hearts racing and kicking off an Anglo-American culture clash. Season two saw these American whirlwinds battling love, heartbreak, motherhood, jealousy and the full force of the English legal system. In season three, the Buccaneers are fighting back. And they’re doing it together. When they arrived in England, they were all navigating their first loves. Now, they’re looking for the loves of their lives. And with a new and enigmatic Duke at the helm, Tintagel is also facing an uncertain future. If polite English society thought these American girls rocked the boat, this new bad-boy Duke is about to sink the ship.

What Has Been Said about The Buccaneers’ Renewal?
“We couldn’t be more delighted to be lacing up our corsets, slipping on our ball gowns and running breathless across the cliffs of Tintagel for the third time to see what passionate adventures our beloved Buccaneers get up to next. Huge thanks to Apple TV+ and also to the devoted viewers for loving the show as much as we do,” series creator Katherine Jakeways said in a statement.
The Buccaneers Season 2 starred Kristine Frøseth, Alisha Boe, Aubri Ibrag, Josie Totah, Imogen Waterhouse, Mia Threapleton, Christina Hendricks, Leighton Meester, Grace Ambrose, Maria Almeida, Amelia Bullmore, Fenella Woolgar, Guy Remmers, Matthew Broome, Josh Dylan, Barney Fishwick, Greg Wise, and Jacob Ifan.
The series is inspired by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Edith Wharton’s unfinished novel of the same name. Coincidentally, Frøseth will also star in Netflix’s adaptation of Wharton’s The Age of Innocence. William McGregor, Rachel Leiterman, John Hardwick, and Charlie Manton directed The Buccaneers Season 2. Jakeways and Beth Willis are executive producers on the show, with Joe Innes joining as one for Season 3. The Forge Entertainment, a Banijay UK company, produces the show for Apple TV+.
