Of all the places we thought we’d see May Hong (Mira) at, a Raising Cane’s serving customers wasn’t at the top of our list (even though their chicken is to die for). But right on the heels of the movie becoming Netflix’s most-watched film ever, with over 325 million views, that’s exactly where she was! Even demon-slaying badasses need sustenance.
The voice actors from the movie have been everywhere these days, and with good reason. Everyone’s watching KPop Demon Hunters. And everyone’s watching it more than once. Which, to us, is nothing but a good thing. It’s about time the world caught up to how good the music (and the entertainment) coming out of Korea is. And though the singers are getting a little more love, the speaking voices for the movie deserve their props, too!
May Hong isn’t a singer, so she only voices Mira. However, it’s worth noting that although she doesn’t sing the song, the movie’s “Golden” recently reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making fictional girl group Huntr/x the first female Korean pop act to claim the top spot. That means more eyes on the movie, and on the voice actresses as well as the singers that voice Huntr/x for the soundtrack. Oh, and the movie also recently got a sing-along theatrical release. Yup, that’s how big the phenomenon is.
We’re even saying, expect to see this song at the Oscars next year. Hopefully, we’ll get to see the cast as well.
So yeah, if Hong wants to celebrate with some chicken fingers, we’re celebrating with her. That sounds like a good time.
Have you already watched KPop Demon Hunters? If not, what are you waiting for? No, seriously, run. Do it now. We promise, you won’t regret it. We’d apologize for what’s going to happen to your Spotify after you do, but we’ve been there. Are there. So, join us!
