For Michael Weatherly coming back to NCIS: Tony & Ziva was about doing the character he left behind in Season 13 of NCIS justice. And part of that was the show allowed him to “go behind the mask” of Tony DiNozzo and delve deeper into things he felt they’d just started to touch upon when his character left the mothership.
But it was also about really being able to explore Tony and Ziva’s trust issues, how they differ, how they might be similar, and how the two find a middle ground that allows them to trust each other. It’s been quite a journey in Season 1 of the show, and that journey has taken us to a point where the two now have a real chance at happiness.
Weatherly and de Pablo really jumped “into the sandbox” together in this one, and we talked to Tony DiNozzo himself, Michael Weatherly, about all of that, getting Tony and Ziva together, and what other stories can be told next. Also, don’t miss his cookie comparison!

Michael and Cote get it. They know the fans are important and that they need us. I wish Norman Reedus understood that. They also hired a show Runner who shared their views of what the spin off should be. I wish Norman Reedus and David Zabel and Scott M Gimple understood that. Michael and cote care about the fans as people. Norman Reedus and the 3 stooges do not. It’s that simple.
