Watching Finding Mr. Christmas Season 2, Episode 2, I have yet to see someone that I can see as a Hallmark Leading Man. All of the contestants on the show have beautiful abs, sparkling personalities, and passion that is shining through. But they aren’t making me invested in them and that does create an issue for me. If I don’t care, how am I supposed to want to follow any of them?
And I understand that is difficult – to make people a fan. I wouldn’t want to be a person on a screen – one that would need people to invest in me. It’s hard enough to get people to do that in real life. All of these men coming onto this show – I can’t imagine the courage that it takes. I don’t have that type of courage.
But that being said, for every one that doesn’t have that type of courage, there will always be ones that do. The men of Finding Mr. Christmas definitely do. I can’t tell you that they did a bad job this episode. Well, except they are still giving Craig a bad edit or he just really is bad and they are leaving him there to show us at one point he will get better. I don’t have an answer for.
But what I do know is that Melissa Peterman remains to be one of the biggest joys of television and Jonathan Bennett will always be one of the most perfect men ever in existence.
FESTIVE FACEOFF
I have to admit that I haven’t until now, I have not really gotten the point of a festive faceoff, besides filling space. But the thing I have learned from Jonathan Bennett is that everything has a purpose and there is a way to teach ideas, morals, and teamwork that I wasn’t really looking at.
The Festive Faceoff is a lot of fun and the teamwork that this one had. They are using a slingshot in order to get presents into a sleigh. It was something that I thought would be easy, but I was wrong. I feel like this whole review will be the reasons that I am wrong.
The idea of this is to teach agility, style and teamwork. The guys had a difficult time, but what I loved so much that the ones that people considered to be unathletic were the ones that got the presents in. It was their time to shine and they did a good job of doing just that.
While I think that all of these men are hiding something as a strategy. I don’t see all of them showing their hand in the start. But I also see that as a good strategy. No one needs to have all their cards on the table. This is a competition after all.
The sea of flannels that they all are in – I am thinking lumberjacks and that’s not a bad thing.
Watching, I have to say that I love Melissa Peterman’s take on everything. She speaks for most and knows how to say things that make you laugh, but also you respond and are like yes Melissa, preach on.
The Festive Face Off takes everyone and I happen to love the teamwork. But most of all, I love that Robbie felt accepted. Seeing him say that made me cry. He’s such a genuine soul and I want to protect him.
STAR QUALITY CHALLENGE
When it comes to star quality, I guess that I would say that I think that it’s something you can’t define. It just is there. This challenge has them embracing their inner reindeer. The men of Finding Mr. Christmas have to have a photo shoot and that shoot has them hanging from a crane.
While hanging from the crane, they have to do their best to be the reindeer that was given to them. There is no part of me that could do the photo shoot they did, but then again, my core is not that strong. It’s weak.
The men managed to tell a story with their eyes. I guess that Tyra Banks was right when he told everyone that they needed to smize. Lucky for these men, none of them have bitchy resting face.
I couldn’t stop laughing at the amount of pushups that were done before each person took their turn in front of the camera. The photos will be used for a spread in Entertainment Weekly, where they will be photo shopped to look as though they are leading the sleigh with Bennett as Santa.
There were reasons to like everyone, well except Craig. I can’t be held responsible for not liking him.
One thing that I found is that the underdogs in this show try the hardest and where as that is understandable, it also bothered me. Why? Because I didn’t feel like we were really getting to know who they are.
When I watched all the men competing, the people I felt like I wanted to hug and tell that they were doing a good job was Robbie and Drake. Both seemed to come across as though the screen as not believing that they are good enough. But the thing is – they are.
TIME TO GO
All of these men are good enough. It’s been an experience watching all of their insecurities and seeing that it isn’t just women that experience these things. Have definitely known it but seeing it is a different thing.
Each one has drive and passion and their own reasoning for being there. They also have their own way of showing it. Yes, they are all beautiful and they all have heart, but people do have to go home.
And I think that’s gotta be the hard part.
I wouldn’t want to send anyone home.
With Davey winning the Star Quality Challenge, we know that he’s safe. Some of these guys were a little too cocky during the challenge and after. I think that confidence is great, but sometimes I wish that there was more humility in their actions.
Drake is the one sent home and I have to say, I don’t disagree with that choice. I love Drake and he’s a light in the world, with so much to give, but right now he’s still coming into his own.
And that’s okay.
We all do it at different times.
Finding Mr. Christmas has its own joys and I think that as the season unfolds, we’ll get more of them. For now, we’re early in the season. Whomever ends up winning – I think we’ll be pleasantly surprised. After all, Jonathan Bennett is behind the show and he has all the love to give.
