Boston Blue has already been renewed for a second season, and we can’t say that we’re mad about that. We loved Blue Bloods and watched it religiously. It’s not just for older people to watch. But you know us, we’re trash for a good procedural.
There was a lot of talk when the role of Sean Regan was recast with Mika Amonsen.
We’re loving the new Sean Reagan and aren’t complaining about that at all. What we had been wondering was where the h-e-double hockey sticks has Jack Reagan been.
Lucky for all of us, we have an answer. The mid-season finale of Boston Blue answered the question of where Danny’s oldest son is. Jack Reagan is in Africa as part of Doctors Without Borders.
In an interview, co-showrunners Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis addressed the situation.
‘We really try to keep track of where the rest of the family is within the Blue Bloods universe, because we are an expansion of that world. It’s a big deal that Jack is overseas and that he’s in medical school,” Brandon Sonnier told TVLine in an interview.
And then he added, “We never want to lose sight of the fact that Danny has two sons. Part of placing Jack so far away was logistical — it gives Danny the space to fully focus on Sean right now, because there’s not a lot he can do for Jack. Jack’s doing fine. He’s thriving. This family has a duty to serve, a calling to service, and this felt like a way for Jack to follow that calling — while being far enough away, for now, to serve the story we’re telling.”
It does make sense, and while we’d love to see Jack in Boston, we’re not sure when or if he will make an appearance.
Boston Blue will return February 27th, on CBS.
