Shrinking will return for a fourth season on Apple TV! The streamer renewed the award-winning comedy series ahead of its return on Wednesday, January 28. Shrinking’s Season 3 premiere will be one hour long, with new episodes airing weekly until the season finale on Wednesday, April 8.
This isn’t the first time that the series has received an early renewal, either. Apple TV announced Shrinking’s Season 3 renewal after its two-episode premiere in October 2024. Its sophomore run wrapped up with Shrinking Season 2, Episode 12, “The Last Thanksgiving,” in December 2024. During which, Jason Segel’s Jimmy reaches out and offers help to Louis (Brett Goldstein), who killed Jimmy’s wife, Tia, in a drunk driving accident. Also, Harrison Ford’s Paul gives an emotional speech amid the progression of his Parkinson’s symptoms.
This season is all about moving forward, following Season 1’s meditations on grief and Season 2’s on forgiveness. Given that the show’s third season wraps up that three-season pitch that co-creator Bill Lawrence has discussed, it’ll be interesting to see what theme emerges in the newly-renewed fourth season. Presumably, any hints about that won’t come until the end of Season 3.

In today’s TV climate, there’s something to be said about being able to enjoy the upcoming season without worrying about the show’s fate. Apple TV celebrated the news with a short clip from the show, featuring stars Jason Segel and Harrison Ford. Shrinking Season 3 also stars Christa Miller, Ted McGinley, Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Lukita Maxwell, and Michael Urie. Ford and Urie both received their first Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for their work in Shrinking‘s second season.
Guest stars Brett Goldstein, Damon Wayans Jr., Wendie Malick, and Cobie Smulders will reprise their roles. Meanwhile, the new season will welcome Jeff Daniels, Michael J. Fox, Candice Bergen, Sherry Cola, and Isabella Gomez.
Shrinking was created by executive producers Lawrence, Goldstein, and Segel. The series is produced for Apple TV by Warner Bros. Television (where Bill Lawrence and Goldstein are under overall deals), along with Lawrence’s Doozer Productions. Neil Goldman, James Ponsoldt, Jeff Ingold, Liza Katzer, Randall Winston, Rachna Fruchbom, Brian Gallivan, Ashley Nicole Blac,k and Bill Posley also executive produce.
