It’s been a long past twenty-four hours and sitting down to watch Tell Me Lies didn’t feel like something I wanted to do. Getting my mind tortured by the insane people on this show – not something I want to do. TBH, the decisions that these people are making are horrible and the way that this all keeps playing out – I do wonder why we keep watching Tell Me Lies.
It’s not even that it’s just the men on this show that are in need of being institutionalized. All of these characters need help. Yes, it starts with Steven being in a maximum security psych ward and it travels down from there.
None of these people are loyal. None of them know how to make smart choices. It can be something as simple as a drinking game to relationships that shouldn’t be to decisions over futures. Steven is the worst, but I am beginning to believe that Bree is just as diabolical. I can’t with their drama and their inability to ever learn anything.
Because they truly never seem to learn anything.

THE PARTY
A goth party for Valentines Day? Hard pass. Valentines is already stressful enough and it’s not going well. Diana has found out that Steven sent her Dad nudes that she allowed him to take during freshman year.
I really, really do need someone to steal him laptop and destroy it. There are too many things that are kept on that laptop to destroy lives. Sending nudes to someones father is just gross. It’s just wrong.
That night, the group is set to go to a party. A goth party. I don’t think that is a good Valentines theme but its college and a party. It’s at this party that things are going to come up – like Bre telling Evan she met up with her Mom.
I do get that Evan is obsessed with Bre, but I also think that she’s gotta stand her ground. She doesn’t owe anyone anything and he’s delusional if he thinks that she’s ever been honest. At the party, she’s trying to make Wrigley jealous. Bre is always testing everyones love for her and its understandable that she’s insecure, but it’s also not okay.
Bree asks Alex to come to be with Lucy and she’s afraid of that due to Steven. But I really think that Lucy is damaging herself and she’s making things worse for herself in order to feel like she can do something about what she’s done.
Only she’s not doing anything that helps anyone. She didn’t tell Pippa about her conversation with Chris and Pippa only finds out when Chris confronts her at the party. Like this is too much. Lucy is just as bad as Steven and Bree, just in a different way. She needs help and she keeps making it worse – not only for herself, but also for others.

YUP SHE IS A FRESHMAN
Steven is always looking for something or someone that he can cause pain to. Steven has decided that he’s going to bring a freshman to the party. She’s young and naive enough that he may just be able to manipulate her.
And he does.
The entire group knows that Steven is capable of a lot. He’s got to find a way to be in control of everything. It’s the only way that he is calm – when in control. The issue is that he has to then remind people of that control so they fall in line.
For Lucy, that means she jumps when he speaks, does whatever he asks, and never causes any issues. Steven will only play his upper hand when he’s forced to. He will only make people think twice about crossing him when they give him a reason to? No. He’s capable of going scorched earth, no matter the time.
The person that notices how afraid that Lucy is of him – it’s Alex. Alex is trying everything that he can to be cognizant of other peoples feelings and really sees that Lucy is terrified. When he has to leave, Stevens freshman decides that they should play a game of paranoia.
The game is really kind of lame, but also when it ends is cruel. Bree says that Wrigley would be the person most likely to commit suicide. With that he’s been through, I think that’s the worst thing that anyone can say.

BREE IS DIABOLICAL
Over and over again, Bree proves that she’s really just dumb. She’s acting as though she knows all and she’s not needing to let anyone in. But what I don’t understand is why it is that she acts like the world is against her, as she’s set everything bad in her life in motion.
Bree is using Evan to make sure that she feels loved, but also as a shield away from the things that are going wrong. He’s also a good distraction from her crush on Wrigley.
When her and Evan break up again – Wrigley fights with her taking her home. She takes off and heads to Olivers, where she thinks that she’s going to confront him over the girl that he’s sleeping with. Instead she comes face to face with Marianne who seems to offer comfort for what she is going through.
And for a second Marianne is tolerable. I happen to really hate her, but I do appreciate the fact that she is trying to comfort Bree. I just think in the same breathe Marianne will do whatever she can to manipulate that information.
Bree isn’t to be trusted. She’s gone through a lot and I do get that, but she’s in the setting scorched earth and that’s scary.

SOMETHING IS WRONG
I think that we can all figure out that something is really wrong with Lucy and Alex. Now Alex – I actually like. Him and Wrigley are the only semi-redeemable people on the show.
Alex is trying to be good with Lucy, but he’s trying to figure out how it is that he can help her with what she’s gone through. He doesn’t even know what that is. He keeps going to her and saying he’s not a bad person and I have to wonder why he is convinced that is what anyone thinks.
Their sex is always really rough and demeaning to them both, but I also think that neither one of them is healthy that way. They use sex as a way to try to prove they are in control of something and they aren’t.
What they are is a million spaces apart.
But that night when she leaves to say she’s going home, she ends up a Stevens, trying to get in the door, not realizing how she ended there. He asks if she’s okay, and she walks off. It’s when she runs into Diana she’s able to find a space that is safe.
Yes, Lucy is going through a lot, but I also think that this is a bigger sign that she needs help. She does need to listen to Diana and stop giving reactions. She needs to protect herself first. Her saying that she needs to figure it out is a recipe for disaster.
But Lucy isn’t the only one that has lost her mind. So has Bree. When she leaves Marianne’s she calls Wrigley. He comes to get her and she admits that the only person she wanted to talk to was him.
We finally have these two kissing and though you can see the passion between the two, I have to ask – at what point are these two gonna be honest with those around them? I mean we both know probably never.
But I can’t get over thinking thats probably mostly a Bree thing. God, I don’t like Bree or Steven.
Tell Me Lies streams on Hulu.
