With all of the changes that are happening in Benson Hills and Hope Valley, I think that the strongest and most resilient people are the kids. The children have been through so much and have become used to being in the classroom with each other. Moving back to Benson Hills with the uncertainty that goes with it – that’s a lot.
School has been these kids release. It has been their escape from the madness that is going on around them. It’s been the one thing that they can count on.
And now they are being told that they will be separated soon. That feels like a shock. But here’s the thing about Hope Valley – the community will always have each others backs. They will find a way for everyone to feel comfortable and know that they matter.
Because they all do.
Finding ones self in the faee of change – no matter your age – isn’t easy. These kids – they deserve a voice in their lives and thankfully that is what they get here.
The funds for the Benson Hills new school house have come up against some political red tape, and the funds have been reallocated. There are so many things happening, but the adults want to keep it away from the kids and that, I find a beautiful thing.
When Calls the Heart shows us week after week what is lost, can be found. When you feel alone, it doesn’t mean that you are, it’s an opportunity to ask for help. It’s an opportunity to let people in.

THE MEDAL
I didn’t expect to cry during this episode, but when I started, I couldn’t stop. LJ lost his fathers medal and that broke his heart. It broke mine too. Seeing Nathan stop what he was doing and be there for LJ was heartwarming.
For LJ loosing his fathers medal felt like loosing everything. He didn’t know his father and wanted everything that he could have of his fathers. He was looking for a connection, and that medal made him feel close to his father.
Elizabeth doesn’t get angry at him, instead she sets up a scavenger hunt for him to find more memories of his father. Things that he had not known were being told to him. Momentos of his father, drawings that his father made – he now had them all.
Seeing the look on his face as people told him stories, it was just so sweet.
LJ didn’t ask to be. member of the dead Dads club, and he shouldn’t even know what that is. I was just happy that he got things that made him happy and that were a part of his Dad.

THE SCHOOL HOUSE
Lee, Rosemary, and Elizabeth have the idea of letting the kids have a say in their new school. They come up with the idea that the kids should have a part in it. So, they tell the kids to draw what they want. There is no dream too big or too small.
Seeing the kids come up with these amazing ideas. They have such passion for these innovative ideas and what would make them learn. And these kids have these amazing thoughts and really are transforming.
But what was really special was that they were able to show the original blueprints for the school house – drawn by LJ’s Dad. He couldn’t stop starring at the blueprints.
This whole episode and LJ’s story – the way he got to know more about his father and the excitement that he felt – that was everything.
I think that having LJ finding that confidence because he got to know more about his father was the best part of this episode.

THE LONG CALL
Lucas is a stubborn man. He’s one that lets his pride and his fear get in the way all to easily. He doesn’t get out of his own way. Yes. people leave. Not everyone stays. That is life. He was so afraid of Edie leaving him that he pushed her away.
But, I do not think that he meant to push her away – his insecurities got in the way of who he knew Edie to be. And now she’s gone – she’s in Union City and has taken on a new role. He wanted her to return, but she had already taken the job.
I do think that Edie and Lucas are two peas in a pod and the fact that they are both too prideful is going to be what gets in their way. Lucas did try and apologize, but she wasn’t hearing it.
She was willing to help him with finding the funding for the school house. But the same way that Lucas guards his heart, she guards hers. One can’t fault them for protecting themselves because sometimes the worst pain is heartache.

OTHER THOUGHTS
- The way that Oliver looks at Allie is every girls dream
- Allie thinks of everyone – she’s just like Elizabeth that way
- Nathan saying that he will always be there for LJ is everything
- Allie is perfection – the way that she wants to write the story for LJ – loved it
- LJ’s Grandma coming – that was sooo cute
