We’re back! High Potential Season 2 Episode 13 ‘In the Driver’s Seat,’ brings us another interesting case with some answers about Roman that raise even more questions, while Morgan struggles with Elliot and Ava’s future plans. Ready?
Here we go!
Pacing Issues…

We finally learn something more about the guy who was following Morgan! High PotentialSeason 2 Episode 13 ‘In the Driver’s Seat,’ gives us an answer that, as always, ends up raising more questions. This guy adopted Roman many years ago, but why is he following that backpack and watching Morgan? What does he have to do with Roman’s disappearance? Unfortunately, the show still doesn’t give us any clues about that. Although, the fact that this guy and Arthur are in custody might make it easier for us to find answers a little faster than usual.
That said, the show has a pacing problem. A serious one. We just learned something about Roman’s situation—and the only truly interesting thing in the final minute of the episode—after many episodes without a single clue and with the plot not moving forward at all. And we’re still waiting to see Captain Wagner again to find out how his dynamic with the team is after he used Morgan and then abandoned her.
Not to mention that, if we hadn’t seen the previous episode, with High Potential Season 2 Episode 13 ‘In The Driver’s Seat’ we would never have guessed that anything significant happened to Morgadec. The series introduces interesting storylines, but instead of developing them, they forget about them until it’s convenient to bring them up again. It’s as if they jump from one thing to another and then backtrack to continue where they left off.
Where is the development? It can’t be that after what we experienced with Morgadec in the previous episode, in this one they only has the bare minimum of dialogue about the case. Nothing more. And then Karadec is later with Lucía as if his experience with Morgan hadn’t changed anything, when it clearly had. It’s also unacceptable that they create a rift between the team and the new captain and then we never see him again to deal with the fallout. And it’s unacceptable that they introduce an investigation into Roman, 13 episodes have passed, and we barely know anything substantial.
Yeah, the cases are entertaining, but this Season 2 is barely holding together with anything else. Where’s the balance? They did a pretty good job balancing the cases with the storylines that connect the characters in Season 1, especially in the early episodes. We need to get back to that. We enjoy the cases, no doubt, but the characters are what keep us here, what keep us watching. The show shouldn’t lose sight of that. They’ve already done so for far too long.

Future Plans in High Potential Season 2 Episode 13 ‘In The Driver’s Seat’

Now that we’ve gotten that off our chests, let’s get back to High Potential Season 2 Episode 13 ‘In The Driver’s Seat.’ The offer Elliot received left us with a few questions. How did they find out about him in the first place? We need to know! In any case, we’re so proud that our boy earned a full scholarship to such a prestigious institution. He deserves it.
Morgan has mixed feelings about this. She’s proud of her son and wants to do what’s best for him, even if it means having him thousands of miles away. But Elliot is her baby, he’s a little boy, and she’s scared about being separated from him. She’s not ready for that. And she wants Elliot to be a child, and she doesn’t know if that school will allow him to be one.
Morgan had a father who always made it clear to her that her abilities defined her. She was nothing more than that. But Morgan doesn’t want Elliot to feel that way at all, and in High Potential Season 2 Episode 13 ‘In the Driver’s Seat,’ Morgan needs to make that clear.
She needs Elliot to understand that his abilities are part of who he is, but they aren’t all that he is. And she doesn’t want that school to make him feel otherwise and not allow him the freedom to be himself. Morgan is nothing like her father. So she’s honest with Elliot about her fears, letting him decide. She listened to him and supported him no matter what. And we’re in tears.
