Boston Blue returned this week with a new episode, “Family Secrets.” And honestly, we found it a little dull compared to the last two weeks, but we did get to see Lena and Sarah working together which was our favorite part. We also enjoyed Jonah and Sean’s case which brought out softer sides of the two cops and had and a twist at the end that we didn’t see coming.
Sisterly Bonding

Lena and Sarah’s relationship was definitely the best part of “Family Secrets.” Having them gossip about Danny and him possibly running the Boston marathon was cute. And we’re glad Sarah was able to talk about her concerns with Seth and Phoebe with Lena. Lena is a good listener, and we liked seeing them in more of a “sister” mode than cop mode.
That being said, they do work really well together. In the middle of discussing Seth, Sarah had a moment where she figured out part of the case. And then Lena helped solve the rest. It was funny when Danny came in and thought he was so clever when he discovered Sanborn Shipping. But he’s not as good as the Silver sisters. And while we do love Lena and Danny’s partnership, we wouldn’t mind seeing more of these sisters solve crimes together.
When Sarah and Phoebe get caught in the robbery, Sarah made the smart decision to call Lena so Lena and Danny would know what was happening. It was the best thing she could have done to save herself and Phoebe. We were nervous for a minute, but there was no need to be. Lena and Danny had everything under control, and Sarah and Phoebe made it out without any injuries.
If there was any doubt how much Lena and Sarah love, care, and respect each other, this episode erased all of that. Now, writers, we expect more of these two working together in the future.
A Missing BMW

Jonah and Sean’s case had an interesting twist this week.
What started out as a missing BMW turned into discovering Drag Queens. Or more specifically, one drag queen: the son of the owner of the stolen BMW. We liked that the show used a high heel to find the person who stole the car. It was very Cinderella and brought some humor to the episode and helped lighten the mood a little. We also appreciated that Sean and Jonah were compassionate towards the son and decided not to tell his parents that he does drag.
The son didn’t want his parents to know, and Sean and Jonah didn’t see any reason to spill his secret or what comes after. As long as the parents knew he stole the car, they did their job. We appreciate that Sean and Jonah were kind in this episode and didn’t judge. That’s part of what makes them good cops, and we can root for them even more. We wish there were more cops like them in real life.
Other Thoughts

- It’s funny that Seth didn’t want Phoebe to tell her mom about saving the guy’s life. We’re kind of with Seth on this one. If Phoebe’s mom knew she was a hostage in a robbery, Phoebe probably would have been shipped off.
- We know Sarah had her reservations about Phoebe living with her and Seth full time, but we’re glad she agreed. Phoebe and Sarah definitely bonded during the robbery, and we’re interested to see how this goes. Sarah’s life will definitely change, but we think it’ll be for the better. She showed this week that she will be a great full-time step-mom.
- Lena was amazing with Danny at the end. She realizes that his time in the service is a hard topic, but she’s there for him in case he does ever want to talk about it. This is a sign of a good partner – knowing when not to push and to make sure your loved ones know you’re there when they need you.
Boston Blue airs Fridays at 10/9c on CBS.
