We’re loving that more and more people are starting to notice microdrama and vertical actors. There’s definitely a lot of opinions floating around—about the actors, the storylines, and even the apps these shows live on—but honestly, that just shows how much attention the space is getting. The vertical world is a pretty fascinating one, and it’s exciting to see so many people getting curious and jumping into it.
Salvador Paskowitz (who helped write The Age of Adaline) is teaming up with his business buddy Timothy “Timo” Nelligan to kick off Super Punchy Studios—a new microdrama venture that we’re sure is going to pack a punch. They already have a vertical in production.
Step By Step, is a full feature script, and this tells us that it will be different than what we are used to in the vertical world. It was written by Kristin Monroe Paskowitz and Halo Gracey, and will be distributed through the Super Punchy app platform. The vertical is starring Nicole Mattox, Seth Edeen, Molly Anderson, and Haley Lohrli.
“At Super Punchy, we’re not chasing the evolution of vertical storytelling, we are actively shaping it,” said Kristin Monroe Paskowitz.
Nelligan added, “The future of this medium belongs to those who prioritize originality, ownership, and efficiency. We have this and represent a new mindset in the industry that will resonate most with global audiences. We are not volume-driven, we are artist-driven.”
We’re not loving another app to pay for (yes, we pay for apps and no we don’t do Dailymotion), but we will for this.
