Like the rest of the cast of Euphoria, Jacob Elordi is firmly putting the HBO series in the rear view mirror. And his latest project is the live-action adaptation of The Dog Stars by Peter Heller.
Originally published in 2012, The Dog Stars is a post-apocalyptic novel about a man and his dog who have survived a devastating flu pandemic. Elordi stars as the man named Hig. And his dog remains at his side after the death of his wife. Just like in the novel, Elordi’s character has a gun toting neighbor named Bangley. And he’s played by Josh Brolin.

The official trailer opens up with Hig coming home to his dog and his wife. And everything seems okay. But this movie doesn’t waste any time breaking the illusion. The world has been destroyed by a pandemic and his wife is dead. All he can do now is survive. But nothing’s ever easy in the apocalypse as the survivors have to face roaming scavengers called Reapers. Good thing that Hig is a pilot and can make a hasty escape if need be.
His life is shaken once more when a mysterious radio transmission gives him a spark of hope. Joining him on this adventure to figure out if there are any survivors out there is a mysterious woman played by Margaret Qualley. And if the official trailer is any indication, there’s going to be loads of action hand in hand with whatever emotional journey Elordi’s Hig is going to go through.
